More diplomats should adopt the @DrSJaishankar approach when dealing with foreign media, firm, precise, and unapologetically direct, instead of driving straightforward questions in diplomatic wordplay and historical stories. Meek responses only embolden those waiting to lecture India with selective morality and blatant hypocrisy. Too many people still live in the past and expect Indian diplomats to behave submissively before foreign journalists, as though pleasing audiences abroad matters more than defending national interests clearly and confidently. Defending national interests is about the nation, and not those questioning those interests.
