@MobileSuitBoris idk, but I'd guess it might have to do w/ a history of chromaticism, use of Octatonic scale, and percussion in traditional Indonesian music thats also prevalent in BDM and not really any other modern music. Not sure if thats a valid assertion but makes sense to me.

if someone has any insight into why Indonesia of all places has a disproportionately large amount of brutal death metal bands, i'd love to learn about it.
