@AmericanR1ght @SincereHyp44120 @C2Antiquity Many such cases. It's a good time to ask questions about it as blessed Fr. Seraphim Rose is undergoing canonization pending I think Moscow approval as ROCOR said he was Saintly reported earlier today

1. Because the American justice system is not perfect, there was delayed reporting, and there are statutes of limitations 2. You are incorrect. Witness statements say contrariwise. Reader Daniel Everiss has said Fr. Seraphim suffered because he knew of at least some of the secret sins of his brother, but....he refused to condemn or judge Herman, and he kept silence, publically. readerdanielsharing.blogspot.com/search?q=podmo…

I agree with every point made here, but I especially agree with Ben Dixon’s first point. If you’ve ever seen photographs of Fr. Seraphim’s cell, studied the layout of the monastery, or visited in person, the first thing that stands out is its isolation. His writing desk—where he produced numerous prolific works—and his library were both located within his cell. The print shop, too, was a small and relatively secluded space. By most accounts, these were the places where Fr. Seraphim spent the majority of his time. Detractors who claim that he “must have known,” based on various illusory (even psychotic) projections and conjectures, seem to overlook a basic reality: these two individuals spent much of their time nowhere near one another. Fr. Seraphim’s life was marked by extreme diligence and total dedication to his work, leaving little room for the kind of assumptions being made. Common sense has led—quite rightly—the majority of people to recognize this, and to conclude that there is simply no evidence suggesting any knowledge of, or involvement in, Gleb’s activities. Catholics, on the other hand, often appear certain. Taking a page from their own approach, one might reasonably suspect that this certainty has less to do with the facts, and more to do with Fr. Seraphim’s criticisms of their church—criticisms that compel an uncomfortable inward look at deeper spiritual issues and degeneracy. Blessed Father Seraphim, radiant lamp of Christ, pray to God for us!

By Michael W. Davis (@paisiosdavis) Several readers have approached the UOJ regarding the allegations that Fr. Seraphim Rose was complicit in the sexual abuse committed by Gleb Podmoshensky (formerly known as Fr. Herman). It is well worth undertaking a dispassionate analysis of the existing evidence. Before we do, however, let me make one thing clear: I am 100% in favor of the Holy Synod of ROCOR thoroughly investigating these matters before they decide to canonize Fr. Seraphim. We must spare absolutely no expense while rooting out and exposing sexual predators and those who enable them. If ROCOR’s investigation turns up new and damning evidence, then we must live with the consequences. Rather, my argument is that, based on the existing evidence, there is no reason to believe that Fr. Seraphim Rose knew about/covered up Gleb Podmoshensky’s crimes.

I dispute that the witnesses look upon Seraphim well. Reader Daniel Everiss said on 2/7/14: Fr. @LogosInTheDark @shoah2024 @captive_dreamer @Supra_Man_97 Antisemites back in the day be like Jews are not from Europe or western world and they should be kill*d and expelled. Antisemites today be like Jews don't belong in the same place they expelled them to which by the way is their historic Homeland.

Absolutely unbelievable clip of Cenk Uygur and Anna Kasparian gleefully celebrating decline of "White Christians" in America. Encourage you to watch it in full. Why is anyone on the right platforming them?

@maksimologija Seems like a bad argument on the face of it. He was declined by a Bishop because he was technically claimed by a Bishop. Irrespective of the opinions of that assembly by their own bureaucratic mess he was canonical and never defrocked. They even address him as Archpriest.

@LogosInTheDark But Heers, after he ended up in a non-canonical situation without a Bishop, continued to act as a priest—indeed to set himself up as a worldwide teacher of Orthodoxy online. This activity was schismatic. Cf. the Assembly of Bishops' censure of Heers: assemblyofbishops.org/news/2023/comm…

The Heeretic fallacy (also known as the "No true Orthodox" fallacy): 1. X occurred at sometime in the past. 2. However, X did not occur in an optimal manner. 3. Therefore X was not really X, and you need to buy my book. [NB (3) may be stated explicitly or just insinuated.]

@DianeKamer @gh0stbrain @CHS_SC843 If it's the court of law you're looking for, why wasn't Gleb put in prison? I don't even deny that he did wrong things, I merely deny that our new Saint had anything to do or know about it.

@CHS_SC843 @DianeKamer @gh0stbrain It will be, as there is no reason not to approve it. I saw your other comment on witness testimony, and you don't generally engage with the fact (per that same testimony) that the witnesses of Gleb look upon the Saint well.

@maksimologija I know for some time he was stuck in "limbo" with the bureaucracy but I'm not sure that he fit the definition of schismatic for that time. His books was pretty good, though I disagree with it in part. I don't know that he's worthy of the scrutiny you're offering. IMO

@LogosInTheDark Well, until recently, he had been schismatic for several years, and subject to censure from many Bishops. But it refers primarily to his views on Baptism, and the way he promoted his book about Baptism online.

@DianeKamer @CHS_SC843 @gh0stbrain His reply is largely overstating any evidence the claim has. It has become clear the engagement is not fruitful in this discussion. He wants him to be x, y, or z. I cannot overstate his overstatement of the evidence. But it seems Saint Seraphim Rose overcame.

@LizzieMarbach Hey, love your anti abortion work. The reason the Church had ideas about canons tends to be the teachings and lectionaries and liturgy as passed down. Seeing as you do not possess these in any form or shape outside of the bible derived thereof. No argument.

This is why it’s important to fight against the RCC/EO argument that scripture didn’t exist or that no one had any clue what it was prior to the councils. It’s a lie and gives way to other false claims about God’s word. Christians began to recognize scripture vs not scripture almost immediately as these books were written. Yes, there was some debate over a few books, but the overwhelming majority were immediately recognized. Likewise, the overwhelming majority of non-inspired text were immediately recognized as such. Early Christians had a good idea of what God’s word was.
SheepDog Society LLC@SDSLLC_USA

If Biblical scholars hundreds of years after the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ can decide which books of the Bible were "just made up" and removed them from the texts so that we can't learn from them, then how do we know that the entire Bible isn't "just made up"? It's a fair and honest question. Insults will not be tolerated, this is a post for discussion.

MUNICH — According to UOJ sources, the Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR) has canonized Hieromonk Seraphim Rose as a saint. This was first reported by UOJ-Germany. The decision was reportedly made during Monday's deliberations by the sobor and remains unofficial until a statement is issued by ROCOR. Tentatively, Fr. Seraphim is the first U.S.-born saint of ROCOR and the first American convert to be numbered among the saints.
