@Lolra89

Hello, my name is Laura. I teach Secondary English. I like to lose myself within a good book; I love the way it rids me of reality.

*THREAD* As a secondary school teacher, I never thought very hard about the impact of birth month on outcomes. If I did consider it, I must have assumed it had a negligible impact compared to other factors. Now, as a parent of primary school kids, it has become more salient.

Snerdling: 19th century dialect for ‘wrapping up comfortably in bed’. In other words: peeking out from the duvet, thinking better of it, and sliding back under.

Extremely concerned by this policy. Reducing exclusions by turning off the tap at the end doesn’t solve problems- it just means children with intolerable behaviour get trapped in school. You may as well ban prisons to solve crime, and say ‘deal with it’ tes.com/news/exclusion…

Workload and @Ofstednews Overall, how much does inspection add to a school’s workload? Have your say and please feel free to RT and comment.

Ofsted do not talk about tracking progress; they talk about monitoring it, which is quite different. A progress matrix, showing progress of individual pupils from start points, is perfectly suitable. We do not need to attempt to quantify and measure the progress pupils make.
