Harmful practices continue to inflict deep harm on survivors, yet responses remain disjointed and inconsistent. Too often, survivors are failed by systems that do not recognise or adequately respond to the realities of their experiences.
Feedback from previous participants of the HPA course highlights the depth of learning, the skills gained, and the growing expertise in addressing domestic abuse and harmful practices.
This course provides an essential intersectional feminist lens, foregrounding a deeper understanding of the movements led by BME women in the UK, their activism, and their impact on the VAWG sector. The next cohort begins on 1st April 2025.
What this course offers you:
• A nuanced understanding of harmful practices (including under-identified forms of harmful practices like caste-based abuse and spiritual abuse) and the impact on survivors.
• Practical tools to provide survivor-centred, trauma-informed interventions.
• Strategies to push for structural change and accountability in services and policies.
