Harmful practices continue to inflict deep harm on survivors, yet responses remain disjointed and inconsistent. Too often, survivors are failed by systems that do not recognise or adequately respond to the realities of their experiences. Feedback from previous participants of the HPA course highlights the depth of learning, the skills gained, and the growing expertise in addressing domestic abuse and  harmful practices. This course provides an essential intersectional feminist lens, foregrounding a deeper understanding of the movements led by BME women in the UK, their activism, and their impact on the VAWG sector.  The next cohort begins on 1st April 2025. What this course offers you: • A nuanced  understanding of harmful practices (including under-identified forms of harmful practices like  caste-based abuse and spiritual abuse) and the impact on survivors. • Practical tools to provide survivor-centred, trauma-informed interventions. • Strategies to push for structural change and accountability in services and policies. We remember all victim-survivors of FGM, brave activists working to dismantle patriarchal violence, by and fors working with grassroot communities and survivor-led initiatives that continue to challenge harmful narratives and fight for the protection & wellbeing of women & girls.

International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM Ending FGM requires collective action, it is a harmful practice that violates the rights of women and girls.

No religious scripture mandates FGM, this harmful practice must be challenged, condemned and eradicated through education, survivor-led advocacy, and a commitment to change misogynistic and patriarchal narratives.

Many people, including some professionals, may not fully understand that FGM is not a cultural or religious obligation, rather it is rooted in gender-based violence and a violation of girls and women’s basic human rights.

Ending GM collectively means actively resisting patriarchal violence, upholding every woman’s and girl’s right to basic dignity, bodily autonomy, self-determination, and freedom over her identity and spiritual beliefs.

Coaction Hub Coordinators delivered pioneering, first-of-its-kind trainings sessions across England and Wales. Ø 116 MARAC professionals from across England and Wales attended our trainings. Ø 99% of MARAC Professionals rated the trainings good/excellent.
