I’ve just put together the introduction section of my Halo Infinite retrospective (yes this is something I’ve been working on for months secretly) and it’s brilliant. There’s a long way to go, but so far so good. Feels so good to be actively working on a video again :)

Well, I guess AT LEAST it’s not as bad as CEA, which was just straight up abysmal dogshit I have no idea what this is

Also, Zeta Halo in Halo Infinite literally looks perfect?? Like, they got it right and then for some reason decided to drastically change the design of the rings for the CE remake. It makes no sense, 343/Halo Studios just can’t stop changing things for absolutely no reason 😭

Is it just me who thinks the scale of the ring feels off here? If we look at Installation 04 from the original CE, it looks much larger in comparison. I think it’s the broad patterns and lines in the remake version, they actually make the ring look smaller somehow.

@TheHiddenOneAC Definitely, a video is a more serious platform for a critique. Ahh yes! I am working on something, in my pinned tweet I talk about it a bit. After the Halo Infinite video I am going to return to writing my AC1 retrospective script. It’s been a wild 2 years to be honest 😅

I may be in a bubble here, but I don't think this idea that genAI will start being more broadly accepted in creative projects has panned out, even as the tech has gotten technically better. There's just relentless hate for AI movie, game, written content, and there are essential no tangible successes with these sorts of things outside of the rare song that may trick people on Spotify. Mindsets don't seem to be changing much, if at all. Or they're even getting more critical. AI technical tool use is another story, but actual, generated creative ("creative") work remains ass

@TheHiddenOneAC Twitter is also a really bad place to discuss this stuff. If I wanted to truly voice my nuanced concerns with the black flag remake, it would have to be done in a video, not through a throwaway tweet that was mostly a jab at the concept of du Casse being an RPG-style boss fight

@longearedfox I guess because the franchise faces a lot of justified criticism, many fans constantly build walls. They reject valid flaws, and jump straight into a defensive stance regardless if what your saying is fair or not.

@TheHiddenOneAC People saw the tone of my tweet and I guess it really made them mad. They don’t know me, therefore they feel justified hurling abuse at me in the comments. It sucks but I should’ve expected such a response to be honest.

Why are many AC fans so adverse to thinking about the games they play? On top of that, nobody seems to even understand what I even said. Are health bars the issue? No… I didn’t say that. Modern AC has foundational issues with how it approaches many of its mechanics.

@SynthPotato @TheHiddenOneAC @izzyb58 I don’t understand how you have an issue with the smaller health bars and want them to be off by default, but you don’t have an issue with the massive one stretched across the top of the screen.

The more I see of this game the more I feel a little bit silly for praising it so much when it was revealed. Bro, why does Julien du Casse have a boss health bar? 💀

@SynthPotato Health bars aren’t an issue inherently, it’s about the way they are presented. The way the health bar looks in the remake is just a bit obtrusive in my opinion. If you’re happy with it, then that’s great, I’m merely pointing out something I don’t like from the gameplay.

@longearedfox Why are we acting like AC never had health bars when AC2-AC3 all did😭 As long as they go down in like 3 hits (which he does) who cares. Just nitpicking shit atp when there’s real issues to criticize

@TheHiddenOneAC Pretty much, I just don’t think it serves any purpose and ends up looking a bit goofy, cluttering the screen more than it needs to. A simple small health bar hovering above his head would have been fine in my opinion.

@longearedfox Yup, very true. Although he goes down quite quickly, there just really isn't any need for the long boss bar taking up the top of the screen.

@redre1ated It’s okay dude :) I think the initial half-jokey and inflammatory tone of my original tweet has people annoyed. As for being able to assassinate him, of course that is a great thing. I would hate for any of the Black Flag targets to be forced into RPG-style boss fights.

@longearedfox A measured response. I can apologize for coming at you rough. I been dealing with a lot of fools on this app recently. With that being said. Many of these games you can simply remove the entire HUD. The health bar is there for when you DO engage. However, you CAN assassinate him.

@LeoKRogue Granted, the HUD in this game is a lot cleaner than something like Odyssey or Valhalla.

@LeoKRogue I don’t doubt that, but I’m not talking about the gameplay. I’m just not a big fan of how modern AC handles its HUD compared to older titles. Some may think that’s a pointless discussion but I find it interesting. I guess the inflammatory tone of my tweet has upset people.

@redre1ated Idk I think discussions around the presentation of UI and HUD in games can be interesting. Just like any other form of art you can have conversations about all of the components that make up a game, right down to the menus and HUD and how they impact the player experience.
