114 DAYS UNTIL KICKOFF — OPPONENT #114: THE ARIZONA WILDCATS!
We’re cruising through the complete lineup of all 137 Texas foes on the gridiron, and today we land on the Wildcats!
The only meeting ever was November 14, 1925, right here in Austin.
The Longhorns hosted the Arizona squad and turned it into a defensive clinic, rolling to a clean 20-0 shutout victory.
Arizona was in the midst of a solid but unspectacular season, but they simply couldn’t crack the burnt-orange wall that day.
A classic early-era beatdown that added another W to the history books!

I meant to schedule this for 12:45 PM, not 12:45 AM. 😬

Sam Ehlinger slings a rocket straight down the middle — Lil’Jordan Humphrey leaps up, snags it clean for 41 yards getting dragged down just inches from paydirt! Texas Longhorns grind out a 28-21 thriller over the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes! Sep. 8, 2018

115 DAYS UNTIL KICKOFF — OPPONENT #115: THE GALVESTON HIGH SCHOOL GOLDEN TORNADO!
We’re cruising through the complete lineup of all 137 Texas foes on the gridiron, and today we land on the Golden Tornado!
The only meeting ever came in 1898 when the Longhorns hosted the Galveston High School squad right here in Austin.
Back in those raw, no-helmet, flying-wedge days, Texas controlled both lines of scrimmage and rolled to a dominant shutout victory in front of the hometown crowd — one of those early blowouts that helped establish the Horns as the kings of Texas football.
A true blast from the sport’s wild frontier era in the Lone Star State!

@jarodtmoss ‘Let me get in the pocket and make three or four sandwiches for them.’
English

@LonghornClips Isn’t that where he told the line in the huddle “just give me enough time to make a sandwich and I’ll get the first down”

116 DAYS UNTIL KICKOFF — OPPONENT #116: THE TEXAS SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF RANGERS!
We’re cruising through the complete lineup of all 137 Texas foes on the gridiron, and today we land on the Rangers!
The only meeting ever was October 3, 1903, right here at Varsity Athletic Field in Austin.
The Longhorns hosted the Texas School for the Deaf Rangers and rolled to a clean 17-0 shutout victory.
Back in those early, wild days of college football, it wasn’t unheard of for big programs to schedule local prep or academy teams — and Texas made quick work of it in front of the hometown crowd. I bet they weren't bothered by any stadium noise.
A true piece of turn-of-the-century Texas football history that reminds us just how far the game has come!
Another awesome deep-cut chapter from the archives

@TallTexasTwin Not only did it prevent Bo Jackson from getting a TD, it prevented him from playing the rest of the season.
English

@LonghornClips Same game when Jerry Gray caught up to Bo Jackson and took him down and separated Jackson’s shoulder, preventing what looked like it would be a TD

117 DAYS UNTIL KICKOFF — OPPONENT #117: THE CLEMSON TIGERS!
We’re cruising through the complete lineup of all 137 Texas foes on the gridiron, and today we land on the Tigers!
The only meeting ever came in the 2024 College Football Playoff first round, and the Longhorns turned it into a statement win.
Texas jumped out fast, leaned on a suffocating defense and explosive playmaking, then pulled away in the second half to knock off Clemson 38-24 in front of a roaring home crowd at DKR.
It was the perfect launchpad for Texas’ playoff run and a reminder that when the lights are brightest, the Horns show up ready to roar!
Another modern classic added to the history books!
Remember Jaydon Blue turning on the jets thru this massive hole for a 38 yard TD!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MIKE DAVIS!
David Ash sees Mike Davis burst wide open down the field and drops a perfect strike right in his stride — Davis catches it clean, racing 75 yards untouched all the way to the end zone for the massive touchdown explosion!
