To the Vice Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof. Bamire Simeon. I respectfully want to appeal that the current student transport arrangement at OAU be reviewed with the students’ reality in mind. As an OAU alumna, I appreciate the effort behind the donated campus buses. Truly. But from what students are experiencing, it’s becoming more of a burden than relief. Over 4,000 students and staffs rely on these buses, making it even harder to cope. Long queues under the sun and rain, and this isn't even full resumption yet. Many students live off campus and these buses don’t take them anywhere close to where they stay. It means late classes, late returns, and discouragement from even coming to campus. Also, pushing out tangboro buses and bike men affects their livelihood and will likely drive up transport costs off campus for them to cover up for their own sales. This will affect OAU students living off campus. This needs a rethink. The intention is good, but the execution is hurting the very students it’s meant to help. Thank you 🙏🏾
