I was ethnically cleansed out of San Francisco.
I got out after Democrats started posting signs saying “die techie scum” and smashing the windows of Google buses. I got out before Democrats graduated to letting Asians get randomly attacked in the streets.
I couldn't in good conscience recruit engineers to a city where things like this happened regularly:
I got out — because I got the message. When Democrats lit crosses on fire back in the day, they wanted black people out. And when Democrats light self-driving cars on fire today, they want tech people out.
That car was burnt in effigy, not by a solitary individual, but by a giant crowd. These crimes are not punished because the Democrats who run the city want them to happen. The message is simple: today it’s your car, but tomorrow it’s you in the car.
So: if you’re in tech, Democrats are telling you very clearly to get out of their city. They want to drive immigrant technologists out of San Francisco for the same reason they drove out Republicans out of California — so they can build a one-party state.
