@arvofart I was In literally the same theater when I saw Oppenheimer, and I think they need to get some new equipment. The bass at least helped me stay awake, but never so much as the person who kicked the back of my seat over and over again.

@LookAroundCafe Those early RED cameras have terrible image quality and low dynamic range. Still today they’re known for being less reliable and more glitch prone than the Alexa or Sony equivalent. They push resolution at the cost of all else.

I do think it would be instructive for folks to watch the documentary about the Red One camera and its use on CHE that’s on the Criterion edition of CHE. It’s both similar and a corrective to Nolan’s ridiculous insistence on shooting an entire movie with IMAX cameras.

There’s a really hacky bit in the last act of THE ODYSSEY that serves as nothing more than an excuse to keep cutting back to Robert Pattinson. It’s pretty funny, though.

Don’t shoot me but I didn’t love it as a whole piece. I’ll probably appreciate it more on subsequent viewings and would see it again in the theater. I had a long weekend and ended up fighting sleep through most of it. I might try to coalesce my thoughts in a review. I might not.

Oh, and both people sitting beside me at THE ODYSSEY were there by themselves. The one guy had to have purchased the ticket within thirty minutes of showtime, because that seat was mine before I had it refunded, and I was technically in his seat but he didn’t care.

They’re playing a fucking EPK short for the Odyssey before the movie. What the fuck?
