Do not feed these industries. They are parasites slowly sucking the life out of and then killing our family farms, our soils, our environments and then keeping all the spoils for themselves. #GoOrganic let's start a shift and starve these parasites to death.

@kuantancurls @Johnstons_Elgin @TheHirsel It’s incredible stiff. And the work @LoopyEwes is doing down south to prove British breeds can produce lovely soft woolly jumpers is 👌

Having lived in NE Scotland for 5 years I finally went to @Johnstons_Elgin for a tour today.
Fascinating stuff, highly recommend.
(would have been even better if there was more Scottish wool involved).

@niels_corfield @FarmersGuardian @piggy_jags We have a lot of barns and if we could capture the water that runs off them it could be used to support activities such as a market garden. Anyone have a link to the gov page about this?
English

@FarmersGuardian @piggy_jags Any of this going towards soil health improvement?
Will store more water, more efficiently than any fixed infrastructure
English

£40m in funding for water storage 💧
More than £40m of funding is being made available to farmers to help manage slurry storage and store water more efficiently.

@mendipfarmer Farm B definitely for me. Can’t imagine ever clearing that debit over a lifetime.
English

@mendipfarmer But wasn’t it originally more about producing enough rather than subsidising the cost to buy?
English

@mendipfarmer Food would have to become a lot more expensive. In my opinion subsidies don’t underpin farmers - they underpin a cheap food system.

@mendipfarmer @ArdrossFarm @PastureForLife @EdinvaleFarm @howemill @andyrumming We’ve only been certified a year so probably takes time.
English

@EdinvaleFarm @mendipfarmer @PastureForLife @howemill @andyrumming We were hoping it would help us sell our lamb and beef through butchers and wholesale but that’s not really paid off yet unfortunately … I think our organic certification will mean more to the general public for reassurance on animal and environmental welfare.
English

@mendipfarmer @PastureForLife @howemill @andyrumming For me it was to get confirmation of what we were mostly doing to assure our customers. To get a point of difference and help tell our story. But most importantly broaden the thinking we are exposed to. Basically i am looking to get more tools with which to farm.

English

@EdinvaleFarm @mendipfarmer @PastureForLife @howemill @andyrumming Yes - agree with above. There’s a lot of learning opportunities like farm walks and online seminars (which we struggle to take advantage of unfortunately due to day jobs, kids and family logistics).

We still have turkeys available! find your local turkey farmer and support them, sales dropped off a cliff when the bird flu in turkeys story hit the headlines and I think people rushed out and bought frozen.
