Do any top @AllBlacks actually enjoy playing @SuperRugby? Really? Sabbaticals are utter BS. Problem @NZRugby has is that 90% of its fanbase starting taking them years ago as well. How long before this comp is also declared “not fit for purpose”?

@SamLStandsUp I think the ruck should be called "over" if there are no longer any defenders in it, as in the pic below. Also, the players on the ground must regain their feet and return to an onside position.

A perfect example of the taking the piss principle. Normally around 5-10 rucks per team per game take over 9secs just blowing the first few up will stop the rest. We don't really need to ban the caterpillar ruck, just use what we already have
Charlie Morgan@CharlieFelix

There was a turnover for a delayed box-kick last Friday at Kingsholm. Adam Leal asks Aled Davies to use the ball at 13.11, blows up at 13.20. Not harsh, and just an easy win for the whole sport if it continues to happen.

@rugby_wrap Well, it was in quite a horrendous state when he took over. The game has gone sideways since he took over.

This bloke’s delusional. He says the game is in better shape now than when he started. No, it’s not. He says people are talking about rugby. Yes, about its demise. And says he won’t quit because he wants to teach kids a lesson. The arrogance is amazing. apple.news/A9pvTa4XqRtWRj…

@JustinBerger15 @ChristypDoran That Australian rugby can't have these robust discussions off-the-field is likely part of the reason they are performing so poorly on-the-field. Game has gone soft in the head.

Rugby Australia’s review into 2023 Wallabies season will be conducted by: Andrew Slack, Justin Harrison and Darlene Harrison (industry expert). A Pasifika advisor will also support the panel and process.

@Rugby_Scoop It says on the news he's just missing the Chiefs super season and will be back for the internationals. Whether or not he will be required, not sure.

@Rugby_Scoop If Razor was 2023 selector Ethan Blackadder would have been the ABs 7 with Sam Whitlock or Ardie as Captain and the ABs would have won the RWC.

@Seb_Parker @Trav_HK @wadesgotit That's right. Similarly with the 20 minute red the carded player was fouled out of the game, like basketball, takes no further part but is replaced by another player. That's the common sense solution here. But common sense is not so common in rugby circles.

Am I the only one that thinks the red card should stay permanently? Ma any professional sports (basketball, football, soccer etc) all have players sent off 🤷🏻‍♂️ my issue is the application of the red card - but these are two fundamentally different things. Thoughts @wadesgotit
Loosehead Greg@LooseheadG

@SamLStandsUp Nah. The application of the laws is inherently illogical. We should ensure a XV v XV contest for 80 minutes. By all means send a player off, sanction them post-match, but let the game return to a fair playing field XV v XV. The 20 minute red was a reasonable compromise.

@veteranathlete @HuwTindall @RugbyInsideLine Augustin Pichot had progressive ideas in that direction but wasn't elected President of World Rugby. Anyway, the other football codes seem to be doing fine. It's rugby that has problems. It's not administered very well.

@HuwTindall @RugbyInsideLine Rugby is always going to be a niche sport. If you want to appeal to Gen Z, make it last no more than ten minutes and make it playable in the metaverse with a VR helmet.

This should be a serious concern for everyone. Rugby union has fallen off a cliff with the next generation. This is even more of a reason why we need viral clips allowed online.

@JustinBerger15 @ChristypDoran That a Wallabies review felt the need to prioritise a Pasifika advisor, rather than say a goal kicking advisor, might be evidence of the problem.

@JustinBerger15 @ChristypDoran I didn't want to touch that Justin. But I did think it. It's a slippery slope to start identifying sportspeople by their ethnic group and affording them privileges. It's contradictory to rugby's core value of egalitarianism.

@paulcullystuff Good on him. Great rugby player. I enjoyed watching Matera at the 'Saders. Wish we had more international stars in SR because honestly it's a bit stale. We could learn from Japan Top League One (the premium pro comp in our time zone). More world champ Boks there than SR.

The issue here, aside from SRs woefully inadequate head contact laws, is that partisan fans who are upset their team lost are given a platform to vent which is then taken as seriously as a reasoned argument made in the cold light of day.
Oom Rugby@Oom_Rugby

HIA protocol been out for a long time . we can debate if it is right or fair or necesary or blah blah. but if you do not coach to adapt to it then that is a failure 🤷🏽 my gut said that Boks lost some oomph for a period while they bedded in new approach. it can be done

@LooseheadG @KeithQuinn88 Yes agree , NZ v IRE was intense & France v Boks and even the final despite too much TMO intervention . It’s getting like Big Brother George Orwell like scrutiny. If the ref & 2 x assistants can’t see it then play on & deal with it later after the match so the game flows

Congrats South Africa for 4 Rugby World Cups. Yet a peek into the records shows in winning those finals, the Springboks have scored just 2 tries but kicked 18 penalties. (+ 2 conversions & 2 d.goals) Is this type of top game one the world wants into the future? Just sayin'...🤣!

@barbedquill @rugbycology Acts of foul play are not "highlights" and I don't want to be subjected to endless replays of them. The game has become too focussed on the negative uninteresting things like whether a shoulder glances a chin. Do that boring shit after the game not during it.

@LooseheadG @rugbycology The role of the TMO isn't to reduce the incidence of head contacts, its to highlight foul play, amongst other things Whats the point of highlighting foul play after the game ?

You may not agree but the game has to listen to these voices. Fact is not everyone is on board with the direction the game is going.
Andrew Mackay CAMS@ThreatFinance1

@rugbycology I’ve enjoyed travelling and watching 4 Lions tours and 2 RWC (2007 and 2019). Never miss an international or a Premiership match. This RWC was painful. I watched 3 of the knockout stages matches - and glad. No point investing time watching when decided by a referee or TMO.

@barbedquill @rugbycology Umm, so you want to spend more TV air time highlighting the negative things like foul play as opposed to the positive things like great attacking moves. This is exactly what's meant by 'the game is going in the wrong direction'.

@HuwTindall @rugbycology It was like that for 100 years no problem. The TMO has not improved the game and the review and punishments for incidents only visible in slow motion replay can be handled post-match surely? The way its going they'll pause the game to conduct a hearing & lawyers presentations!
