I encourage you to read the definition of steward. It is someone who has been delegated limited authority (emphasis on limited) and makes them responsible for carrying out specific things. A steward is someone carrying out those responsibilities. Ultimate authority still remains with the granter of that limited authority. In the case of a non-employed housewife, she acts as steward of the household. She makes day to day decisions such as budgeting and purchasing necessities, but when it comes to major dollar expenditures, her husband (as the only income) can still override her wishes.

I get your point. My wife buys almost all the gifts in our family. My contribution is the money used to purchase them. This is a normal and healthy role for a woman to fill. It would be weird in the reverse. Men and women are different. They do different things. It’s okay.

@reece110213 @MattWalshBlog Awesome! But that’s a role you’ve chosen. It’s not “biology.” I work 14hrs a day outside the home and my husband is home with our disabled daughter, yet I bought my gift (after he asked what I wanted for a week), his mom’s, and my mom’s.

@MattWalshBlog I keep the calendar, buy the gifts, the cards, order the flowers ect. I sign his name and I’m happy to do it. He works unbelievably hard and manages his employees and all their drama. I can take these simple things off his plate as long as he’s providing the bacon on mine.
