@LordElberik To be fair, the first 4chan post about the concept implied monsters, or at the very least 'entities.' I don't think it's necessarily wrong to include them though--I just think it's funny how people have trouble imagining what's scary about being isolated in a strange place.

I think it's kinda fucking weird that the Backrooms is literally a situation in which you're spontaneously dragged out of your normal life, without any warning, and get trapped in an endless labyrinth of rotten beige rooms, yet people still think that isn't scary enough.

@BluebriarArts Drop objects into the environment wherever the player is not looking. Add physics for even more terror. A ball rolling across an empty room is scary- you don't ever have to include a monster.

Game design question: How do you add tension to a creepy liminal environment WITHOUT adding monsters, but WITHOUT removing tension if the player realizes they face no real threat?

Primary reason for this is because I feel like "breed me" lost all real meaning the moment people started using it to be synonymous with just fucking in general. The former is more explicitly saying exactly what you want.
