This is a mistake that conservatives make. They think that if self-help is possible, then you have no right to political views whatsoever. Everyone benefits from not giving in to a victim mentaility. Everyone benefits from prayer, exercise, working hard, having hope for the future, and not giving up. Even political prisoner unjustly held benefit from this good personal advice. Trying to offer it to people in the place of politics- as if politics is just for people with capital gains taxes- is an attempted robbery. They talk about Biblical wisom, but what would they tell the prophets of the Old Testament? “They sell the righteous for silver, and the needy for a pair of sandals. They trample the head of the poor into the dust of the earth and turn aside the way of the afflicted." Oh Amos, stop encouraging these poor people in their victimhood!

I can’t share the post because Auron has me blocked, but I listened to a good portion of this and they mischaracterize Jeremy and Rod in a very interesting way: they paint them as men with no solutions, who scold any young man actually fighting, actually doing something to fight back against the “system.” But we do offer solutions—real proven solutions—that won’t just change your life, they can change our political system as well. Real, timeless wisdom, from the past, from great men, from scripture. It begins when you choose responsibility and agency. Auron will decry this as neocon “boot-strapism” because he’s miserable and wants you to be miserable too. But if you actually want to change your life for the better, I encourage you to listen to Jeremy’s monologue. I’ll link it in the replies.
