As the nation pauses for a Moment of Reflection to mourn the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and reflect on her life and legacy, we would like to share some of our memories of Her Majesty and her visits to Exeter.

The State Funeral of Her Majesty The Queen will take place at Westminster Abbey on Monday, 19th September at 1100hrs. The funeral will be shown on a large screen in Northernhay Gardens and the public are welcome to attend.

The state funeral for her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be screened at Exeter’s Northernhay Gardens and at other locations in the city on Monday 19 September. Find out more: bit.ly/3eIxsLA

Tributes can be laid on the Cathedral Green. Tributes left in other location will be moved to the designated location. Candles will be provided in @ExeterCathedral should anyone wish to light one. For further information visit exeter.gov.uk/in-memory

At 3pm today, The Lord Mayor of Exeter will invite @ExeterCX to read out the Proclamation outside @ExeterCathedral, accompanied by the Dean of Exeter. Members of the public are invited to attend if they wish. Orders of service can be found here: adobe.ly/3L1OO26

At 5.30pm this evening @ExeterCathedral will be putting on a dedicated service in the Lady Chapel. The Public are welcome to attend. Their books of Condolences will be reopened then until 6.30pm. exeter.gov.uk/in-memory

Flags will be raised to the mast‐head from 11am to coincide with the reading of the Principal Proclamation at St James’ Palace and until 1pm tomorrow when they will again be lowered to half-mast until 8am on the day after the state funeral.

The Proclamation will be read this morning at 11am at St James’ Palace, London. It will then be read out at the Royal Exchange in the City of London at 12pm. The proclamation of the new Sovereign is a very old tradition which can be traced back over many centuries.

At 3pm on Sunday, outside Exeter Cathedral’s West Door, the @LordMayorExeter will read out the Proclamation. Prayers will be led by the Dean of Exeter and the of Exeter. They will be joined by the Vice @LLofDevon. More: news.exeter.gov.uk/proclamation-w…

The following day, Sunday 11 September, the Proclamation will be read out at 1pm at County Hall in Exeter by the High Sheriff of Devon, with civic leaders from Devon in attendance.

His Majesty The King will be proclaimed at the Accession Council on Saturday 10 September at St James’s Palace in London and the Proclamation will be read at 11am.
