@dranthoniaeddo But when your uncle’s wife started earning more than him, how did she behave? Did her attitude towards him change? If it did, then maybe she pushed your uncle into that situation. But if she didn’t, then your uncle brought it upon himself and simply got what he deserved.

My uncle Tunde used to say something when he first moved to the UK with his wife. “Marriage abroad is easier if two people truly love each other.” Back then, everybody admired their story. They left Nigeria together with only two suitcases and big dreams. My uncle worked night shifts at a warehouse while his wife, Amaka, cleaned offices in the mornings. Life was tough, but they were happy. Every Friday they would buy takeaway jollof rice from a Nigerian restaurant, sit in their small living room, and talk about the future they were building together. They promised each other something simple. “No matter how hard life gets in this country, we will never betray each other.” For a while, that promise held. Then things started to change. Amaka got a better job in a care home. Her salary became almost double my uncle’s warehouse pay. She started sending money home to her parents in Nigeria. She even began talking about going back to school. At first my uncle was proud. He would tell everyone, “My wife is doing well.”

I went to club with a talking stage not because he asked but because I wanted to. I calculated the risk and came prepared. I wore an extremely short dress, the kind that disrespects weather, morals and physics. The kind that of you dared to bend over…..

She paid my school fees from 300 level through my final year, stood by me and helped me secure a job when I needed direction, and even invested in my growth by purchasing equipment worth millions for me. When we got married, she paid our very first rent without hesitation. She carried me when I was still finding my feet, believed in me when I had little to offer, and never made me feel small for it. She has done so much for me, and I’m deeply grateful for her love, sacrifice, and unwavering support.

I don’t talk about this often. A few years into our marriage, my wife fell seriously ill. Doctors said she needed a kidney transplant urgently, and later, part of a liver too. To them it was “medical options.” To me, it was simple. I didn’t pray to ask if I should do it. I prayed that God would make me eligible. When they told me I was a match, I felt relief..not fear. Signing those papers felt lighter than signing our marriage certificate, because this time I wasn’t promising with words, I was promising with flesh 😅. The surgeries were hard. Recovery was harder. There were nights I couldn’t stand straight, days I questioned my strength. But every time I saw her breathe better, laugh again, regain life …my body felt small compared to the joy. She still apologizes sometimes. I still remind her: I didn’t give you organs. I gave you time. ❤️ Marriage isn’t flowers, aesthetics, or online quotes. Sometimes it’s choosing pain so the person you love can live. If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t hesitate. That’s my wife. That’s my marriage. ❤️

I need married people to quote and reply this tweet with sweet and really thoughtful things your spouse has done for you. We need a TL cleanse from the Negative marriage PR.

You guys never cease to amaze someone on X or do you think everyone on X was born in 2005. Omotola was just 16yrs old when she met her husband Captain Ekehinde in 1994, who was already a pilot. In 1994 Omotola was still trying to find her pathway to success not to talk of fame. She rose on the popularity of her husband. You people should stop these nonsense of misleading people with your information. No one stopped you from moving in with your wife. Captain Ekehinde did not moved in with omotola.

Na person marry Mama Alakija with her wealth. Na person marry Omotola with her fame. You don’t hear anything about their marriages. Nigerian men don’t see good examples. It is the one Aminatu papapa from Odogunyan is treating her husband like trash because she’s richer they will see. Eyin nu Oloun nnu

Lmao una no real . I squated with an ex for about 6 months when I had accomodation problems.within that duration I covered feeding, light , water , gas and every other bill. Fast forward to when we broke up, I wanted to move my things, so I texted her and requested for the keys-
Sir Dickson@Wizarab10

Nigerian Twitter is the first place I heard that if your wife owned a 4-bedroom before you married her, and you were living in a one bedroom, she should move into your one bedroom because man no dey move go woman house. Odogwu 🙌🏽 “Woman” house, like say no be your wife. You people actually do not see your wife as family. Nothing you want tell me

@lollypeezle Don't joke with those guys ó. Many of them are house owners in the surburbs. Yes they might not really understand money management, but a good number of them have landed properties, which is often the only form of investment they know

A lot of people are not as poor as you think. They just don’t know how to manage money. While in Kara Market the other day buying Christmas goats, there were alapatas disturbing and following us around so they could kill and butcher the goats for us at the market at a fee. Instead of coming home with the trouble of killing, dehairing, butchering and slicing meats, they will do all that for you. We eventually agreed with one who did all that for two goats at 15k. After that, he paid the market due and paid for everything he used. Everything like 5k. He has a gain of 10k within 2 hours. On a good day, he goes home 30k to 40k. On a bad day, 10k. No Saturday, No Sunday, No holiday. How many blue collar employees are making 300k per month in Nigeria? How come it’s mostly blue collar workers that are always having savings? Why do these other guys always look poor? If you see their lifestyle, you will understand they are not poor, they just don’t know how to manage money.

You guys are so stupid. You ignorantly stupid that you can't think. This is a federation. All money goes to one single treasury account whether it is paid to states or federal. There is a revenue sharing formula and no state in a federation can singlehandedly collect tax and use as it pleases.
OluGbenga@AdewunmiGbeng14

@thebardogbamola Again, this is another lie. Personal income tax is not paid to the federal government. Personal income tax is paid to the state. So, if you want accountability on your personal income tax, hold your state government responsible.
