Notre Dame's “Florida Dame” recruiting push is real, and it's already paying off 👀☘️ “At first, it was just a saying, but it's real. It's the start of a pipeline.” — @ZaydenGamble1 Read: on3.com/teams/notre-da…

@CMDarnton0 And I bought 1000 shares of AMDY at launch. Can you imagine what that is going to be paying me every single week five years from now?

There are two clear schools of thought when it comes to the College Football Playoff: Take only the best teams—even if that means leaving out a few that deserve a shot. Include all the deserving teams—even if that means letting in a few that don’t truly belong. Where do you stand?

@crazyunclelou Notre Dame doesn’t get too handpick if they did they would still be playing USC and they would be playing tougher teams. The tough teams don’t wanna play Notre Dame because they know they have a good chance of losing so your premise is 100% wrong.

NEW: Illinois' Bret Bielema tells @PeteNakos the more teams in the College Football Playoff the better🏆 "Personally, I would love to see as many teams included as humanly possible. It can’t go to 64 — I’m not talking about that. I think somebody floated 32 last year or something like that." Story: on3.com/news/bret-biel…

@CFBKings How about we compare it to every other division of college football? How about that I coach at FCS level and it is ridiculous to think it diminishes the regular season or the coaches will rest their players

One of the biggest flaws (of which there are many) in the expansionist’s argument is the comparison to other sports. “The NFL lets 44% of their teams in!” “The NBA has a big playoffs bracket!” “The FCS has 24 teams, let’s copy that!” “The NFL gets more viewers, so…” “College Basketball lets lower seeds in they have Cinderellas!” Why don’t all these people go watch those then? They’re literally pointing out all the alternatives that they could go freely partake in. But instead it’s “we have to make the last unique sport look like all these other sports that people could simply go watch instead.” Why does CFB have to change? The expansionists should be the ones changing. Change sports and go watch any of those formats you clearly prefer.

Of course coaches wouldn’t admit it upfront. But let a good player not be healthy or it be deemed a “meaningless” game. see what happens. Coaches are already taking good non-con games off the schedule to make life easier. @ESPN_BillC just wrote an excellent article about this
Brandon Marcello@bmarcello

Tony Petitti fights back on the narrative that teams will rest players late in season if a CFP spot is locked up in a 24-team format. "I don't understand the resting idea because you're never safely in one spot." Incentives to improve resume -- home games, byes, seeding, etc.

“Why don’t we just make College Football like all the other sports????? Why can’t College Football have a worthless regular season too????? Other sports do it!!!!” The expansionist’s only thought.
Pete Thamel@PeteThamel

Petitti: "When you go to 24, you unlock a lot of really good ideas and a lot of really good opportunities." That's an obvious reference to a B10/SEC scheduling arrangement. He added that at MLB, he never had to convince people that having more people in the playoff race was a good thing.

@LorenGrad1 @ESPN_BillC @The_Other_Take I don't know. Why would Kansas State feel better off at 24 than 12 or 16? They've been near the mountaintop before, when there league was stronger than it is now. A peer of their's (who they defeated in the B12 CG that year) played for the national title in a smaller field.

People are botching the FCS vs FBS comparisons. FCS = 128 teams, 11 auto, 13 at-large 11.1% of FCS is at-large (13/117) FBS = 68 teams (P4), 4 auto, 19 at-large 29.7% of P4s is at-large (19/64) * Not remotely comparable. * barring wide-scale G6 qualification CC @ESPN_BillC
Andrew Percival@PDawg206

@The_Other_Take @flatland_sports That's 14 at-large spots to be divided amongst 118 teams (FCS teams - FCS champs). That's 11.9%. For the FBS 24 team tournament, we are talking about 19 spots for 64 teams. That's 29.7% You can take issue with the algebra, ie acknowledging the P4/G6 tier in FBS (hence 64

In short, a 24-team playoff wouldn't make the sport better; in fact, it would eventually make more people tune out during the regular season, only to tune back in for the playoffs. How many NFL fans care very little about the regular season, but watch every playoff game? Tons.
Bill Connelly@ESPN_BillC

A 24-team CFP is the AI of CFB: We didn't ask for it, and we're told it's inevitable despite huge unknowns. I wrote about the impact of expansion and ditching conference title games. We don't have to do this! Four rounds and Flex Weeks: the way forward. espn.com/college-footba…

@LorenGrad1 @ESPN_BillC @The_Other_Take I don't believe that to be the case. The fan surveys on this topic, and the sentiments of CFB media, have been overwhelmingly opposed to it. Which was not the case moving from 4 > 12.

@LorenGrad1 @ESPN_BillC @The_Other_Take It would stand to reason that the regular season is not as diminished if there are no FCS leagues where half of the teams will get a birth. I am saying that part of why thr FCS regular season still feels the same is that the math simply allows it to. The math matters.

@ESPN_BillC @The_Other_Take @PDawg206 No one said it was a mirror of the FCS. They said the FCS had 24 teams get in and no one ever ever ever said it diminishes regular season games that is the point.! it will make the sport better not worse

@wthomassports All of the other college football divisions have at least 16 and most 24 teams in the playoff and I have never heard anyone from the Dakota say Man those games in a regular season just don’t mean as much since we have more than 12 teams in the playoffs what a stupid argument!!

This first sentence is my biggest point. I don’t CARE how other sports do their playoff. College football isn’t other sports. If that’s your argument, you’re essentially saying you don’t care about what makes CFB special. And if that’s your stance, we will never agree
David Waters - Gators Breakdown@GatorDave_GB

Sorry, I don't need college football to be like the NFL, FCS college football, or college basketball. I'm not going to pretend it's a level playing field across FBS. The SEC nor B1G are approving a 24 team CFP with all conference champs getting in anyway... nor should they.

@LorenGrad1 Thanks for letting me know you are an idiot. No game would have ANY meaning until one of the teams had at least three losses and was playing a good team. Also, top teams would tank the last week of the season. And there would be no conference champs. Nice, job!
