When Jesus was tempted, scripture flowed from his lips. When Jesus was challenged, scripture flowed from his lips. When Jesus was crucified, scripture flowed from his lips. One of the ways to live like Jesus is to internalize scripture, so that when we are cut, it spills out.

@griffingulledge @9Marks Though, to be fair, I'm not overly familiar with Shipman's writings, and if the mischaracterizations are true, they would be concerning.

@griffingulledge @9Marks Just finished reading the book myself. There's a lot of good in it, which Pratt acknowledges, before recommending "no one read, distribute, or teach from" it. Frankly, that comes across as extreme, and overly concerned with a defense of Shipman's writings.

We don't have to fight the culture. Jesus has already won. Therefore, we can live with humility, gentleness, and patience. Put down your boxing gloves and pick your cross.

It’s not the consistency of your obedience, but rather the generosity of God’s love, that is your hope.

There is a time when we didn't have to explain to Evangelicals why character counts. We didn't have to explain the cultural influence of the Oval Office, for good and ill. Now we do, because too many forgot. Too many look the other way. My Sunday essay: frenchpress.thedispatch.com/p/a-christian-…

"Unless the church can address its deep and more fundamental failure of moral and theological instruction in politics, many of its leaders and thinkers will continue to pay whack-a-mole with the symptoms of the underlying disease."

What is a conspiracy theory but a lie? It comprehensively violates the Ninth Commandment. A conspiracist bears false witness. He accuses his fellow citiznes of grievous sins, he destroys their good name, and he can incite violence. How should we react? frenchpress.thedispatch.com/p/coronavirus-…

Being conservative or progressive on every single issue is intellectually lazy & unfaithful. Critique and push back on these flawed ideologies. Make conservatism sympathize & pursue racial justice. Make progressivism acknowledge absolute truth & the sanctity of life. #AND2020

The central and salient consideration of American racial politics shouldn’t center around pride in how far we’ve come, but in humble realization of how much farther we have to go. A story of personal change: frenchpress.thedispatch.com/p/american-rac…
