The blue ai was making progress, but after caine absorbed it, he shut off the whole thing. However 1/2

I've watched the full episode today and I think I've been hasty with my judgement before.... He's mostly hated because his mental illness isn't portrayed as quirky, he was acting corny many times but it was kinda realistic. Sometimes poison reach faster than a helping hand.

@ruurirusuzukai @kolapon_art Yeah, that was exactly the point of portraying it that way. Maybe it's something you get only after having experienced it irl.
Plus, showing a character abstracting serves no purpose other than shock value, which imo would detract from the meaning of it

@kolapon_art especially when, in some situations, you realize that, after theyre gone, there was “signs” that their life was already in jeopardy and you cant help but feel so useless or helpless feeling like you couldve changed something

It does these sudden, jarring cuts to people already having abstracted three separate times and the suddeness is what the show is going for (1/3)

@J0hnADouglas Care to elaborate on your opinion of ribbit? I don't see it as grooming, but she was trying to make him open up to her, which he wasn't ready to do yet/didn't want to. When he realized that he was vulnerable, he shut her out, and as you said he didn't really have anyone 1/2

@DrAwesomeV2 I always felt like Kinger only being “sane” in the dark was also gonna be leading up to something (as it’s sort of a play on the phrase “being kept in the dark”)

I’m glad people are starting to wake up to the fact that there’s evidence to suggest the story clearly changed between Episodes 4 & 5. I don’t think it changed dramatically, but it’s hard to watch some of this shit and not notice they allude to things that are NEVER expanded upon

Caine throughout the show had so many ominous lines that were clearly building to something deeper and bigger going on with him and the fact that it meant nothing and went nowhere in the end also pisses me off and makes me think Goose really did edit the scripts/change stuff.

My issue with Jax is how simple his relationships with Ribbit and Kaufmo were. The show planted seeds, for example when he rants about how people on the verge of abstracting are “not fun to be around,” that hinted at something far more layered and tragic than what we got.

This is such a nitpick but I think what bothers me is that I've seen plenty of cautionary tales on suicidal characters
Yet personally I don't know of any where they actually get better and show a path to recovery

@StephanieG95180 If Jax is trans why does he repeatedly throughout the series get upset at characters implying he's trans? He directly references a groomer term known as egg-cracking in one episode, telling pomni that he is in fact, not an egg to be cracked open.

Ok apparently Jax wants to be a woman, even though he doesn’t even know what being a woman means, doesn’t understand what being a man means. His only male figure left at a young age and was toxic to him. Jax was called less of a man for expressing weakness. Ok. Sure.+
