Russian energy giants Gazprom and Rosneft are funding camps for the “re-education” of abducted Ukrainian children, according to a report by the Yale University Humanities Research Laboratory, cited by Radio Svoboda. The report states that “with a high degree of confidence,” between 2022 and 2025 these companies and their subsidiaries facilitated the transfer and/or ideological indoctrination of at least 2,158 children from Russian-occupied regions of Ukraine. Researchers identified at least six camps funded or owned by Russian oil companies, where children from the Donetsk region, Luhansk region, and Zaporizhzhia region were taken for “re-education.” In particular, 40 Gazprom subsidiaries and trade unions are reportedly involved.
