@eyesonbee I'm honestly okay with that. Id *prefer* something that takes heavy inspiration but does its own thing but even if it comes off more like a Parasite Eve 1 romhack I'm chill with that because I love PE1 and getting literally just more of that but with new story and maps is fine.

Call of Cthulhu has a rule where if you lose 5 or more Sanity in a single blow, you have to try to make an "idea roll" against your INT. If you SUCCEED, then you go temporarily insane, because you understand the nature of what you saw. If you fail, you stay okay. Being smart specifically hurts you in this instance, and I absolutely designed it this way.

This is a cute strategy RPG from the studio behind Harvest Moon. The graphics are gorgeous. Only drawback is the game is short. Monstania was never released outside of Japan, but an English fan translation is available.

If there was ever a game that was ahead of its time and deserves a modern remake, it’s Robinson’s Requiem from 1994 by Silmarils (RIP). Did you come across this one back in the day?
I remember first playing it and having no clue what to do. But that was part of the fun: you just walked around, picked up stuff, tried not to die, encountered a weird dude (is that a real person scanned in?), punched him in the face and kept wandering aimlessly. That was fine—it really felt like a total survival game, and I loved it despite being terrible at it.
The game is painfully slow, with little happening at first while you wander around lost. Decent graphics (for its time), good sound effects, and a total mystery of a story. The world felt huge but also empty. This would be a great candidate for a remake or indie project: just pure survival and “collect and build” stuff à la MacGyver.
