Our neutrality is a core value in Ireland, a commitment to peace and diplomacy over war and destruction. In pushing to scrap the Triple Lock, this govt is betraying all this, removing the last protection against Ireland being drawn into foreign wars. We can't allow this to happen

@JohnOBrennan2 @PBresnihan No current government party or Independent campaigned on scrapping the Triple Lock. To believe that simply being elected gives them a mandate to do whatever they want is to reject democratic accountability.

@PBresnihan What everyone of these signatories is saying is that they do not trust the elected Irish government and parliament to take decisions on behalf of the Irish people. That is absurd, if you believe in electoral democracy.

The discourse of equating militarisation/ joining military alliance with becoming 'mature' reminds me very much of the condescending language these same people used to impose austerity after the economic crash - 'hard decisions', 'tough medicine' 'adults in the room' etc
