Our neutrality is a core value in Ireland, a commitment to peace and diplomacy over war and destruction. In pushing to scrap the Triple Lock, this govt is betraying all this, removing the last protection against Ireland being drawn into foreign wars. We can't allow this to happen

@BeibheannKelly Thanks for checking. I've just replaced the linktree link with template text and email list as this is proving very unreliable for some reason! Usually works okay!

As Fianna Fáil TDs write to Micheál Martin because the 'social contract is strained to breaking point', and the EU militarises at an unprecedented rate, how could anyone think it was wise to remove the Triple Lock? National demo this Saturday, 18th April.

@LouthNeutrality have created two email templates to send to FF and Independent TDs calling on them not to support the Government's effort to remove the Triple Lock. Now is the time to remind them that the majority support the TL and neutrality. linktr.ee/louthneutralit…

Everyone in Ireland needs to read this and share widely. Especially with people who are confused by the government's intentionally confusing spin on the Triple Lock.

This is a v helpful resource from @Neutrality_Now. It explains why the Triple Lock is more important than ever, addresses misinformation coming from the government & media, and answers questions that repeatedly came up during the Neutrality Roadshow. pana.ie/posts/triple-l…

The author objects to sending out the army against protestors not because it is extreme, but because it weakens the argument for increased defence spending. The author is co-founder of Security Ireland, another think tank that provides analysis for the defence-tech industry.

To every ghoul who pushes for Ireland to join NATO 👇 Journalist: "When Trump threatened to kill the entire Iranian civilization, did that bother you as a diplomat?" NATO head: "I'm not commenting. What I want you to know is I support the president."

We are still collecting signatures to the open letter to Micheál Martin on maintaining the Triple Lock. It’s open to sign for academics & university workers across the island of Ireland and those living and working overseas. forms.gle/ZWEJAt1wh2XN1J…

Over 400 academics have signed a letter calling on Taoiseach Micheál Martin to reconsider plans to scrap the Triple Lock. The Triple Lock sets out the conditions under which more than 12 Irish troops can participate in overseas peacekeeping operations. jrnl.ie/7000026

@JohnOBrennan2 @PBresnihan No current government party or Independent campaigned on scrapping the Triple Lock. To believe that simply being elected gives them a mandate to do whatever they want is to reject democratic accountability.

@PBresnihan What everyone of these signatories is saying is that they do not trust the elected Irish government and parliament to take decisions on behalf of the Irish people. That is absurd, if you believe in electoral democracy.

We are used to hearing from a handful of prominent academics who support the removal of the Triple Lock and question Irish neutrality. Over 400 signatures to a letter stating the opposite suggests there is a different perspective that should be heard. rte.ie/news/politics/…

RTE and the Irish Times regularly showcase extreme UK, US and Irish pro-Nato fanboys - including academics - who want to send Ireland’s dwindling youth to colonial wars in which we have no interest. RTE and the Irish Times are under foreign control again. Time to take it back!

The discourse of equating militarisation/ joining military alliance with becoming 'mature' reminds me very much of the condescending language these same people used to impose austerity after the economic crash - 'hard decisions', 'tough medicine' 'adults in the room' etc

Ireland's neutrality is anchored in international law & decades of peacekeeping - more important than ever at a time of escalating conflict and the normalisation of genocide. This article was published in November. Re-sharing as the IT hasn't published anything similar since.
