Billions in tax revenue, tens of thousands of high-paying jobs, corporate headquarters, and the businesses that depend on them could follow. States with lower taxes and a more business-friendly climate would likely compete aggressively to attract the financial industry. It’s an interesting question: if so many companies have already moved their headquarters out of New York, could America’s financial capital eventually do the same?
