During #NAAW2024 #NVSD school libraries have showcased that everyone's story matters. From protagonists navigating the world in wheelchairs to characters sharing their neurodiversity, library collections are filled with stories that reflect the rich tapestry of human experiences.

A modern education should prepare learners to transfer their learning to new situations, not simply be able to "give back" what was told to them in the way it was taught. This collection of evidence by John Hattie both validates the value of, and supports, teaching for transfer.
Julie Stern@JulieHStern

Professor John Hattie's collection of over 200 studies of transfer strategies reveal its potential to SIGNIFICANTLY accelerate learning. #VisibleLearning #LTT #learningtransfer bit.ly/3CYzsWo

Punishing the absence of a skill hoping it will produce the skill is absurd. You're not "teaching responsibility" when all you do is punish the absence of it. We would never teach academic skills like that. Teaching requires instruction & practice, not consequences. #ATAssessment

Labeling something formative does not make it so. An assessment is only formative when it's used formatively, so considering the subsequent action following the gathering of evidence is crucial; formative data collection without action is pointless & not formative #ATAssessment
