1/5 3 years ago, thanks to @EconTalker and @Doug_Lemov, I made the best parenting decision of my life: I started reading out loud for 45-60 minutes per night with my kids. We just finished our 48th book together. Here is why this has been so valuable 🧵:

@Maximus_Holla Those reloads @ $5.19 pre market were clutch too! Still down a chunk, but the hedge and the dip buy helped for sure.

75 years ago, 1 out of every 5 dollars a US family earned went to food. Today that's closer to 1 in 10. A slow, steady, easy-to-miss kind of progress.

Our World in Data
Our World in Data@OurWorldInData·
Deforestation is no longer inevitable— In the past, forests around the world were cut down on a massive scale. We lost some of the world’s richest ecosystems. In recent decades, the picture has become more complex. Deforestation has not ended, but it is no longer happening everywhere. Since 1990, some regions have continued to lose large areas of forest, while others have slowed this long-run trend — and even reversed it. The map shows regional changes in forest area based on the latest data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Deforestation has been particularly large in South America and Africa. At the same time, the forested area has expanded in Europe, North and Central America, and large parts of Asia. These gains show that deforestation is not inevitable. When pressure on land falls, forests can return. (This Data Insight was written by @MaxCRoser.)

@Maximus_Holla I would least expect it to happen when everyone and their mothers expect it to happen. So… it should have happened today.

@Maximus_Holla A bold little trader named Hodor Bought shares of $POET galore. “They’ll rocket,” he’d cheer, With a grin ear to ear — Then held on and shouted, “Hold more!”
