How about a word of encouragement and congratulations to my 52-year-old brother Jon who is doing well after his kidney transplant last month. After a couple of very difficult weeks, it appears his kidney is working well and his dialysis sessions are no longer needed. He’s doing all the right things from a lifestyle standpoint, which has required some effort and discipline. This is after 6+ years on 3x/week dialysis. Jon’s journey has been a strong motivation for me over the past decade.

Watching this video reminds me why the supplement & MLM space is so dangerous. Metabolic health isn’t fixed with a drink mix. It’s food, habits, sleep, movement, and consistency. If metabolic health could be fixed with a powder, we wouldn’t have an obesity epidemic.

In 2005 I joined a gym to reverse my path. Worked out 3x/week for 4 years. Ate less & Moved more Got stronger but didn’t lose a pound & my labs didn’t improve. 2009 I changed the food. Lost 100 lbs and fixed my health. Turns out it wasn’t my workouts. It was the damn food.

I’ve gotten more strange looks ordering extra protein at dinner after losing 100 pounds… Than I ever did when I was obese ordering milkshakes and dessert. It’s amazing what society considers “normal.”
