What this episode highlights is that if you work in corporate media, your outlet will not save you. If a major sports org pushes back against a reporter, corporate media will not protect them. They’ll simply accept this as the new normal. I’ve seen this so many times.

🆕 Twelve months ago, Rodtang Jitmuangnon was on top of the world. He had just flattened Takeru in 80 seconds in Japan, looked in the best shape of his career, and seemed to have finally fully aligned with ONE Championship at the height of his star power. Now the relationship has collapsed into open legal war. ONE has filed a lawsuit against Rodtang in Thailand seeking up to 542 million baht (around US$17 million) in damages, with legal teams in Japan and Singapore also working on separate cases. The legal action came after Rodtang made forged-signature allegations, took the matter to police, and aired his grievances publicly. He has since invited reporters to hear more from him at his home this weekend. The bigger story, though, is how things got here. After becoming ONE’s crossover Muay Thai superstar in Asia and the west, Rodtang’s rise brought huge purses and even bigger expectations. But repeated struggles on the scales, and a drop in his guaranteed money after losing the flyweight Muay Thai belt, appear to have changed the relationship. That tension seemed to boil over after the cancellation of his November 2025 fight with Nong-O, and later exploded when he publicly claimed he was out of contract and open to offers from other promotions.
