@DailyMirror @Keir_Starmer Champagne socialist is not the insult you think it is
English

Gary Neville and @Keir_Starmer took a walk in the Lake District to discuss plans for the UK.

@SharonSpinkAct @naomicfisher I imagine there are schools that get it wrong, As a parent with an ill child, would be gutted if she missed out on a trip just for that. But I’ve never worked at a school where that would happen and sometimes think some schools getting it wrong mean we all take a bashing for it
English

@LtlMissC @naomicfisher Sadly, there are many schools that don't do that. Children are punished in many ways for struggling - pen licenses, attendance rewards/charts, school proms. These are a few my child lost out on simply because they were too ill to attend school.

Imagine it’s coming up to the end of the year, and your employer runs an annual fun day for employees and their families. It’s something that gets talked about throughout the year, and it’s a chance to see people out of their work clothes and to meet their kids. It’s a community building event.
Your employer announces that there’s a change of policy this year. It’s going to become the annual Rewards fun day. In order to attend, you have to ace your appraisal, get good 360 feedback ratings from all your colleagues and not have taken too many sick days. They send round a motivational email, telling you all to do your best and reminding you how much fun the day is going to be. They tell you that this is to help you all achieve your best and remind you that it’s not just you, it’s your whole family who stand to lose or gain by this.
If you don’t make the grade, you’ll need to come to work as usual and put in a full working day whilst your colleagues enjoy themselves elsewhere.
You’ve had a hard year and you don’t always see eye to eye with your manager. Your appraisal doesn’t go well. You are told you can’t come.
How do you feel about your employers now? Would being excluded motivate you to do better next year? Would it improve the relationship between you and your manager? Would it help you learn how to be a better employee?
And if not, why would we think that it would be any different for our children?

@SharonSpinkAct @naomicfisher I’m a teacher. I support and praise my students and treat them as individuals. I don’t know any that don’t.
English

@LtlMissC @naomicfisher I don't understand what you're implying. My child are supported & praised in a caring way, according to them individually. I certainly don't punish them for struggling to do something.
English

@SharonSpinkAct @naomicfisher If your are a parent, did/do you follow the same rules? Do you reward them when they are not meeting your expectations?
English

@sufiwannabe @MrShepstone A parent wouldn’t get prosecuted if an accident happened to her 5 kids on a day out either. We have to protect ourselves as well as the YP in our care

@MrMorleyMaths @StudyMaths Love these and so do my year 11s. Thanks so much.

@mrrbell @AMercerMaths Yep I’ve discovered this…have had to tell my students not to use in the end as too many wrong answers.
English

@AMercerMaths Found out today by accident that [SHIFT] [EXE] converts a fractional/surd answer to a decimal in the same way that the [S⇔D] does on older Casios. That’s a game changer.

@Trivium21c Ha yeh. I tend not really to use the term outside my school anymore

Looks like we're in the point in the cycle where people are hating on Cold Call again.
Those of us that work in schools where it's normal find the whole discussion so weird, because we've become used to happy and confident students contributing and having their voices heard in every lesson.
Come visit if you think it's evil or anxiety inducing, you'll see it isn't!

Disaster! So against the run of play and a silly mistake in losing possession. #MidLee

Listen to Tory MPs braying their almost orgasmic (Tory style - let's ask William Wragg?) chants when Rishi Sunak attempts to smear Angela Rayner
While defending his non-dom wife who avoided circa £20+million in tax while he was MP
Tory ethics eh?

@W_NorthantsSEND @phorthbeing @WhistleblowingT I’ve read this thread and you have used the word ‘assume/assumption’ twice. Yet your initial response was to immediately assume that the school weren’t even attempting to meet the needs of the child. The questions asked were valid, the tone and the assumptions within it were not
English

@phorthbeing @WhistleblowingT We have, and do. Again, assumptions made about us with no knowledge. We’re not giving teachers abuse. We just asked questions that you didn’t like.
