@realEstateTrent I agree that there is no substitute for hard work but the ole “just work hard” advise is overly trite . One should not have to grind like crazy to buy an average home. For every one story of “my friend worked hard and became a CFO” how many worked hard and didn’t?

@RichardHanania The point isn’t that they want those jobs imo. Rather, that they want to do away with the program entirely. It seems like he is using this example to disprove the popular justification for the H1B program that it’s for skilled workers that can’t be found in the US.

@PauliMdt @ArmandDoma @BlueyAnon That’s the point. Everyone is warm with family/friends. What makes Americans different in this case is that they are warm with friends/family AND strangers whereas Poles are only warm with friends thereby Americans are warmer than Poles

@ArmandDoma @BlueyAnon I’m sorry for your dad that, after all this time in the US, he doesn’t have any fam or frens left in 🇵🇱 to remind him how Poles can be with people who aren’t just strangers on the street. But that’s on him, not some proof that Americans are “much warmer” than Poles.

my dad is not exactly the cuddly and warm type, but when we visited Poland a few years ago he told me he could never retire there because America had changed him so much he couldn’t deal with the baseline coldness of Europe

@RichardHanania Gross misrepresentation here…. She owns the business, only does the drive a couple times a month, and is moving the business to Tijuana since she doesn’t want to drive that anymore. Odds are also high that she is a US citizen. Not a great example to use for your argument.

Woman commutes from Tijuana to her job at a nail salon in Las Vegas. The traffic backs up on the border, some people get there overnight and just sleep in their cars so they don’t have to wait in line. Incredible work ethic. Why aren’t we making cross border travel and work as easy as possible? What a blessing these people are to the country. Shame on those who demonize them.

"Price gouging" is a virtuous act of delivering goods at market rate, when they are needed most. Should water cost $100 per gallon? Yes, when nobody is offering it for less. And when water is selling for $100 per gallon somewhere today, guess what will happen tomorrow? Every gouger in the region will be rushing water to where it's needed most. This concept is so simple, so elementary to economics, and yet nobody in positions of political authority ever acknowledge it. Kamala here wants to punish people for it. Trump would say the same, if he were President. And when these simple concepts are misunderstood so widely, imagine the difficult ones. These people do not deserve to rule us.

@ErikVoorhees I agree in theory however I doubt it would work like this in practice. Take your water example you’re assuming there would be enough gougers with the capability to transport enough water to bring prices down already in the area and could get there quickly. /1

@FightHaven 2/2 FYI you’re allowed to use reasonable force to remove someone from your property when he or she is trespassing in many states. Kid was trespassing and therefore waived his rights to claim he was assaulted/battered.

@FightHaven It’s private property and he was told to leave and he didn’t. Kid fucked around and found out. All these people defending the kid are the ones that enable this behavior. I’ll wait to hear the whole story before picking a final side but these are my initial thoughts 1/2
