I finally finished a project that's been in the works for many months now. I'm proud to present 'The Diplomat', an original creature concept realised in #b3d and #substancepainter.

Alberto Petronio generously gave me a copy of their geo nodes spaceship generator to play with, so I created a test ship for my virtual studio environment. Made a few personal modifications to the result. The generator is on Blender Market: 👏 blendermarket.com/products/space… #b3d

You only really realise the leaps of progress #b3d has made over the years, when you're forced to use an older version. I'm trying to teach blender at my old school and might have to teach in 2.79, due to the age of the school's machines.

@RyanYounglove @SirWrender To be clear, UE’s real-time rendering capabilities which you need for virtual environments/production far exceed those of Blender (not to bash on Eevee, blender’s real-time renderer, but UE5 is insanely powerful). But for creating from scratch, blender is still the better option.

@SirWrender I know Unreal is great for creating Virtual Environments which I’m interested in doing as well for filmmaking but blender is also just as capable?

So @SirWrender do you think it would be better to learn Blender( or any 3D program) first over learning Unreal Engine? Really want to dive into one of them but don’t know what’s the better option.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to finance a shortfilm?

Basically I'm looking for geometry-fields. I'm fairly certain it would also be possible with loops in geo nodes. Is there a chance the latter will be available to play with soon, @JacquesLucke?

working on a #geometrynodes bookshelf right now. I made a seperate node tree generating stacks of books and invoked it in the shelf-tree, but I can't figure out how to make the stacks generate individually across the instances to give them different heights/seeds. any ideas? #b3d
