Hello 👋 Let me introduce myself! I'm Lucian. Call me Luke. Became diagnosed with this disease nung March 18, 2024 and I became UD nitong January 2025. I got this disease due to my carelessness na hindi gumamit ng condom during sex. #PLHIVdiaries #PLHIV 1/?

I know many of you like to hear updates on HIV cure progress, so here’s the story of the 11th person to be cured of HIV. This @aidsmap story is eye opening, in what the “Toronto Patient” went through to acheive his cure. I wouldn’t wish cancer on my worst enemy—or graft vs host disease, the chemotherapies, and the drugs needed to keep the transplant from being rejected. Stories like this make me happy for a simple daily pill that’s side effect free. At this point, we can’t single out one component in this process that might benefit us PLWH. For example, could HIV-resistant stem cells alone rebuild an HIV-free immune system? Scientific understanding is good, but in the end, we need a cure that’s available in both rich countries and poor ❤️ aidsmap.com/news/apr-2026/… aidsmap.com/news/apr-2026/…

Homophobia is a byproduct of Victorian era colonization. If you live in a country that was controlled by Britain, Spain, The Dutch, France, etc., your antihomosexuality laws are a byproduct of European imperialism. What’s so interesting is that Western Europe has progressed, and now allow gay marriage and LGBTQ protections, while many of the people they oppressed are stuck in the past. My feeling is that current leaders in many countries learned about power and control from their 19th century oppressors and emulate them, rather than learn from their indigenous heritage. This writer is talking about Africa, but similar things can be seen in Southeast Asia. In the Victorian era, Siam (now Thailand) was an unoccupied buffer zone between the French and British empires, so it only makes sense that it was the first country in the region to allow gay marriage. Their identity as a country wasn’t polluted by colonial powers and religious dogma. We’ve seen more progress in Latin America, and my feeling is that part of this is due to the continued presence of indigenous populations. People there still speak native languages, follow religious beliefs, and cultural practices that predate the forced colonial-era conversions to christianity ❤️

If you want to decolonize your country, start with the anti homosexuality laws and policies. You can't claim to be for decolonization but embrace homophobia.

Lets Normalize having Theraphy for healthy mental condition.

Like okay ako most days, kaya ko naman. But when it comes to dating… hay hahaha.

China completed Phase 1 trials of a Tiantan vaccinia-based HIV vaccine in August 2025. Safe. Immunogenic. 48 participants. No serious adverse events. This is real science. But keep the celebration measured. Phase 1 only tests safety. Over 300 HIV vaccine trials have been conducted globally since the 1980s. Eleven went to full efficacy trials. Most failed. HIV’s ability to mutate faster than the immune system can respond has defeated every serious attempt so far. China is further along than most. The finish line is still very far away. I dated a guy from UPLB who is scared to ride jeeps, MRT/LRTs and even tricycles. Their only concept of transportation is thru Grab or being picked up by another person's car 😮‍💨 Rich people are scared of what the poor experience on a daily.

I have an older friend who went to Ateneo in the 80s. She lived in Dasmariñas Village, and she took the bus to and from Diliman. During my time—yes, I am *that* old—even some of the better-off students knew how to commute. How are these scholars unaware of the everyday commute?

Ewan. Di naman siguro ako worth the risk.

Just take your meds daily to keep these cells on lockdown. Theyre researching how to shock and kill these reservoirs for good. Kaya kapit lang.

Superinfection is extremely rare. It can happen when someone gets infected with a different strain before they've produced antibodies for the first strain. This is referred to as a dual infection. The other way someone could aquire a second strain is if they stopped their ARVs. Think about it. PrEP is a one- or two-drug combo that effectively prevents HIV acquisition in HIV-negative people. With three drugs, PLWH are even more protected against other strains. There was a famous case of a German PLWH in the 00s who went to Brazil on vacation. He stopped his ARVs during his vacation and when he returned to Germany, he restarted his ARVs and was unable to active viral suppression. When a genotype was performed, they found a second strain that was resistant to his meds. With a different combination of drugs, he was able to achieve viral suppression. Even in situations where someone is HIV+ and not on medication, reinfection is rare. A second viral infection is rare shortly after the first because the body builds temporary immunity and engages in "viral interference," where the first virus blocks others from taking hold. When we get a cold, we don't get a second cold on top of the first. My personal belief is that some providers talk about superinfection because they don't like the idea of HIV-positive people having sex. I've worked with doctors who won't mention U=U because it promotes the healthy expression of sexuality. Talk of superinfection follows the same path. While it's technically possible, the effect it's negligible. ❤️

Of course it can work. I have dated and had a physical relationship with 4 POZ guys and that was before amazing medications like Prep. We were as careful as could be and they were perfectly normal dating situations. It’s sad than anyone, especially gay men, would give into HIV paranoia. PS: I’m HIV- and in a monogamous relationship for those who want to know.
