i fear eeaao is still a24's most successful film. it had a way smaller budget than ms and it swept awards season that year. ms didn't make as much profit and it blanked at bafta and the oscars. chalamet is successful but he's not the bonafide box office star y'all think he is.

and only one of these films was a draw solely because of chalamet's name. a complete unknown was a biopic, families went to see wonka, and dune is an ensemble film adapted from a popular novel. also, marty supreme is a24's highest grossing film but not the most successful.

This is based on one guy's opinion and it's not a list in order that follows factual things. But the factual thing here is that Timothée is truly a bankable and a movie star, he has proved it even further with MS being the most successful A24 movie grossing 180M(counting)

@LeaveHeardAlone i actually do think gosling is partially responsible for phm's success despite it being a book adaptation. weir is a popular author but gosling's charisma is what carried the film. meanwhile, nobody talked about pitt's performance in f1.

same with all of those actors. their box ofice hits this decade are all ip, adaptations, and biopics. even challengers lost money and marty supreme barely broke even. a movie star in the traditional sense is basically dead.

Leonardo DiCaprio is obviously the best actor of this bunch, but calling him one of the most bankable stars today isn’t really valid anyway you slice it.

i actually think zendaya is on her way if she keeps on leading mid budget projects like challengers and the drama. one made almost 100m at the box office and the other had a24’s 3rd largest opening weekend.

@wilanilaa if we’re being honest, leo is the only real bankable actor listed. both koftm and obaa made a decent amount of money at the box office bc of him and his name was used as a marketing tool. everyone else here benefited from IP, biopic, and ensemble in some capacity
