Why is Polymarket's process of issuing clarifications a serious market integrity infringement? Let me explain. The original rules of the market are a contract - a contract by which users trade their bets. The original rules should be sufficient to resolve the market as traders expected. Any event that occurs, we judge by the original rules: YES, NO, or 50/50 if we can't decide. But Polymarket somehow decides to break market integrity and arbitrarily issue clarifications at will. A clarification, by definition, violates contract integrity by modifying the original rules. Modified rules (after issuing a clarification) != original rules. Sometimes this leads to a completely different result; sometimes it subverts a 50/50 situation. But overall, these are NOT THE SAME rules, and traders did not place their bets on this modified contract. This issue should be addressed immediately by the Polymarket team. It is unacceptable for such a big company to have such a dilettante approach.
