Latest update on Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools. Since the beginning of the 2024-25 school year WSFCS has lost 2,608 students. That's 5.1%. In the last 120 days 10 principles have submitted their resignation letters. Almost 13% district wide. School leadership has now installed gates on bathrooms because of safety concerns. Fights amongst students is a daily occurrence. District leadership has announced additional teacher/staff layoffs due to the $50 - $75 million debt from mismanagement by the school board leadership. School leadership is now poised to go back to Forsyth County Commissioner Board to ask for more money. Parents are looking for any & every way to get their children out of the public school system here & no one can blame them. Its failing at scale.

By taxing the ultra wealthy, doubling the property tax on second homes in Maine, and funding community and school based health centers. Congrats to the legislature for passing a millionaires tax to fund critical investments in education, housing and childcare. Things like more affordable childcare, debt free community college, quality education and more affordable housing are important steps and I look forward to building on them to make Maine the most affordable state in the nation as governor.

@miketermaat_ The biggest fraud in the US is underpaying your taxes by not reporting income or fraudulent deductions. Of people paid what they owed and we cut out fraudulent payments then we could shave over a trillion from the deficit.

Can you imagine how much lower our taxes would be if there were no fraud in government programs? Every dollar wasted on fraud is a dollar that comes out of our paychecks.
