You start to see AI predicted everywhere. Reading Infinite Jest recently, and now in this jaw-dropping, narrative-less chapter which comes out of nowhere hundreds of pages into Vasily Grossman's Life and Fate. Gut punch

Opening Friday 20 March 17.00 - 20.00 'CONTENT MACHINES – jouissance', curated by Constant Dullaart The show traces automated production from early net art to algorithmic feeds and AI slop, and looks at how artists have exposed and sabotaged content machines along the way.

Why did only one man stand up? I’m so grateful for him at least.

The crazy man (I realize he must be but it’s awful) starts to say things to this man for getting in his way. This hero stands up for the women until this verbal onslaught gets up, leaves. I say thank you, no one else comments. MEN, that’s what women walk around fearing.

On subway this morning and I suddenly hear a man saying lewd, explicit, violent things to some woman further down. When I look around, others catch my eye but no one is doing anything. I’m debating, do I get up? Will I as a woman make it worse?

"Ground Rules" book. alejandrocartagena.shop/products/groun… "Cartagena’s dedication to seriality has been a constant throughout his career. Like a seasoned marathon runner tackling mile after mile, he rigorously—yet inventively—adheres to the constraints he sets for himself. Within those parameters, he discovers a freedom that offers a safe space to uncover possibilities. The artist researches a topic in depth, then amasses a large number of photographs pertaining to it, often drawing from archival or popular sources. Numbers play a crucial role, but Cartagena resembles more an inspired mathematician than spread-sheet fanatic. In a deeply human way, he invites us to become participants in his visual constellations, which are at once commanding, moving, persuasive, and, yes, sometimes delightfully overwhelming." The Buffalo AKG collection includes Joseph Kosuth’s Titled (Art as Idea as Idea) (1968), an exemplar of conceptual art, which Rhea Myers stunningly restages for the blockchain by presenting the “null address” on the Ethereum blockchain in Titled (Information as Property as Art) [Ethereum Null Address]. This is the address that cannot be owned, where many send NFTs to be “burned,” that is made inaccessible, and so the vault grows greater even as its value cannot be accessed... Titled (Information as Property as Art) [Ethereum Null Address] flips the order of Kosuth’s title for the value trinity of our own moment and presents an object of thought that strips all excess from an idea that I’ve only begun to unpack here. Myers’s conceptual work with blockchain represents the kind of staggering intellectual project that makes this technology an artistic medium impossible to ignore. - Excerpt from ‘Not for Nothing: A New Perspective from Peer to Peer’, written for @TheBrooklynRail by Charlotte Kent (@Lucy2Scribbles)

This is such an important thing to understand about ownership of digital art. An owner of a digital artwork is tending a public good, not locking it behind private gates.
Casey REAS@REAS

This public condition reshapes the role of the collector and the viewer. Ownership does not confer exclusive access in the traditional sense; instead, it situates the collector within a shared field of visibility and responsibility.
