📈 I taught neural networks this week, so BEHOLD, an ode to @daniela_witten in the form of a shiny application:

The @USArmy has a crucial role to play in regional and international security.
I had the opportunity to tour the historic Panama Canal. Standing at the Miraflores lock, I am reminded that the Canal is not just a passage of commerce but a symbol of our nations' shared responsibility and trust. The @USArmy and the @USACEHQ remain committed to working shoulder to shoulder with Panama to deter threats, protect the Canal, and safeguard global trade.

📣 July 22-25 I’ll be teaching an online short course on how to read and understand statistics commonly found in medical literature — tell your clinician friends! @StatHorizons statisticalhorizons.com/seminars/under…
English

@EpiEllie @_beccaharrison If you get it between 6-11 months they’ll give you another at 12m (and another at 4y), so you don’t have to worry about the initial one being less effective in that sense, it’s just an extra dose
English

@_beccaharrison Been having a LOT of convos about this lately. It is safe at 6-11 months, but it can be somewhat less effective at that age—babies should have some immune protection still from their moms & that can apparently limit their response to the MMR. So, pros & cons?
English

super smart internet friends:
the MMR vaccine isn’t typically recommended until 12 months of age, but given ~current events~ does anyone have thoughts about getting it at 6 months, too? it’s suggested at 6-11 months if traveling, so presumably it’s safe?

Excited to hear from my @wakeforestmed colleague Kathy Lancaster (@prof_klancaster) at #WSDS2024 about time-varying effect modeling for depression and heavy alcohol use in people living with HIV in Cameroon. Such interesting work!
