We also appeal to government to rethink the medical training policy, especially the requirement for universities to keep medical students for six years. Yet, we only have a five-year curriculum for medical training. The idea that some interns deserve only "lunch" and others deserve allowance is very wrong @CHRISBARYOMUNS1. We are no longer students and we have the same responsibilities at the hospitals with the same basic needs. We are ready to discuss when called upon.

@KagutaMuseveni recommendation was very clear long time ago, intern doctors should earn UGX 2.5M per month half the salary of a fully appointed Medical Officer while graduate nurses, midwives, pharmacists, and dental surgeons should receive half the pay of their respective cadres. As frontline health care workers in both government and private facilities, medical interns continue to serve Ugandans despite the challenging environment intentionally created by those in the government. Others may not, but the general population honours you, our heroes.

Dr. @RubabindaJr: I had the unfortunate experience of being involved in an accident, and I was managed by a medical intern. About 70% of the work in government hospitals is done by interns.
