I think this is pretty clear, as showcased by the below 2019 article. He's obviously an ambitious guy (which is not inherently a bad thing on its own - ambitious people change the world for better or for worse, it entirely depends on the character of the individual).

Regarding asylum seekers rotting in tents outside the IPO and contracting diseases due to the squalid conditions: if a lifeboat is designed to hold 5 people, and you insist on loading 25 onboard, causing the boat to sink and everyone to drown, that's actually not compassionate, regardless of your initial intent. It's deeply shameful and irresponsible. It's incredibly wrong to promise something you clearly can't deliver, particularly at the expense of the people you actually could have helped (i.e. Irish homeless people, and a limited, sensible number of genuinely persecuted women and children). Offering something you know you can't provide is like asking a starving person if they want food, and when they say 'Oh thank God, yes please' you tell them you actually don't have any. It's tantamount to trolling the vulnerable.
