Today we launched the Media Briefing for the Pan‑African Social Enterprise Summit (PSES) 2026) together with Mr. Tim Mugerwa, President of the Federation of Uganda Social Enterprises (FUSE). The launch set a powerful tone for a summit that will position Uganda as a continental hub for social innovation and enterprise‑led transformation. Guided by the theme “Leveraging the Power of Social Entrepreneurship to Drive Africa’s Social & Economic Growth,” the summit will bring together social entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, development partners, and youth leaders committed to shaping a more inclusive and sustainable Africa. PSES 2026 is built on a clear vision to elevate social entrepreneurship as a driver of development across the continent. It seeks to strengthen collaboration, expand access to investment, and showcase scalable African models that can transform communities. The summit will also open new markets for social enterprises and lay the foundation for the Pan‑African Social Enterprise Fund—an ambitious step toward long‑term, Africa‑led financing for impact. Uganda is ready to welcome over 1,000 delegates for this historic gathering on 19–20 November 2026 in Kampala. This is more than an event; it is a movement to redefine Africa’s development pathway through innovation, enterprise, and shared purpose. Registration is now open at lnkd.in/eJ2jcKps

Reshaping Radio for Climate & Agriculture Knowledge We successfully concluded a radio broadcaster training focused on strengthening communication formats for disseminating environmental and agricultural knowledge to last-mile communities across Uganda. I had an opportunity to facilitate and train radio broadcaster training Over 24 radio journalists from 12 districts, representing diverse agro-ecological zones and climate challenges, came together at La Grande Hotel, Kampala for a two-day intensive program on January 27 to 28th 2026 Led by Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO Uganda), Farm Radio International - Radios Rurales Internationales the training equipped participants with innovative skills to: 📻Develop creative formats for radio communication and packaging of agricultural content 📻Use drama and storytelling to make agricultural knowledge engaging and relatable. 📻Amplify youth listenership through narratives on Circular Regenerative Agriculture. 📻 using digital media for agriculture reporting for radio journalists as well as producing Muti media stories to support radio All of us we know that the population or audience migrated from radio to new media like YouTube , TikTok and using SoundCloud , website to complement radio According to Isaac Ndyamuhaki, National Director of GAYO Uganda, this approach is more than just broadcasting—it’s a pathway to addressing youth unemployment, climate change, and building sustainable food systems through low-input, resource-efficient, and environmentally restorative farming practices. One participant from Mega FM shared: “I had an opportunity to learn and develop drama for radio, to communicate agriculture information in my community.” This training marks a step forward in empowering radio as a tool for climate resilience, youth engagement, and agricultural transformation in Uganda.

Earlier this week, I participated in the validation meeting for Uganda’s National Climate Change and Gender Strategy and Action Plan (NCCGS, 2030). I contributed my expertise in climate communication, youth and Gender , emphasizing how inclusive messaging and participatory approaches can help us reach last-mile communities. I highlighted the importance of amplifying women’s voices who, according to the 2024 Uganda National Census, constitute 77%–80% of the agricultural labor force. This high participation in agriculture, a sector directly dependent on weather, makes women and youth disproportionately vulnerable to climate shocks such as droughts and floods. Furthermore, 33.1% of households remain in the subsistence economy, where women are the primary providers of water, food, and energy roles increasingly complicated by climate change. These realities underscore why gender-responsive climate strategies are not optional, but essential. The National Climate Change and Gender Strategy (NCCGS) is designed to create truly equitable climate action in Uganda by integrating gender equality and social inclusion into all national policies and programs. This comprehensive approach provides targeted benefits, specifically empowering women, who are highly vulnerable, by ensuring they gain equal access to resilient resources and decision-making platforms, while simultaneously engaging men in new, sustainable, and gender-responsive climate sectors and livelihoods. Furthermore, the Strategy secures the future for youth and children through focused climate education and capacity building, ensuring their voices and interests are reflected in long-term planning, thereby fostering a more just and resilient society for all. The NCCGS is built on five foundational principles: 1. Inclusiveness and Equality – Leaving no one behind by targeting climate-vulnerable sub-populations. 2. Inter-generational Equity – Ensuring justice for both current and future generations in climate action. 3. Alignment to National Priorities – Integrating climate and gender actions into Uganda’s National Development Plan IV. 4. Public Participation at All Scales – Engaging grassroots communities to shape and own climate solutions. 5. Broad-based Partnerships – Strengthening collaboration across government, private sector, civil society, and local communities. Conclusion The Strategy represents a transformative step toward embedding gender equality and social inclusion into Uganda’s climate response. By centering women, men, youth, and vulnerable groups, and by fostering partnerships at all levels, Uganda is positioning itself to deliver climate action that is inclusive, equitable, and sustainable. the meeting was organized by the Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) Climate Change Department in collaboration with the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD), with the development of the strategy itself supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (@FAO) through the Global Climate Change Alliance Plus (GCCA+) project. #ClimateAction #GenderEquality #ClimateAndGender #NCCGS #SocialInclusion #SustainableDevelopment #ClimateResilience #AfricanClimate #YouthForClimate
