@TaraViswanathan Strong one - like how you frame it by "creating your work". Instincts of ruthless prioritization help here

I’m back in the zero to one stage (after running a multi-hundred million dollar co for 6yrs 😅) & remembering how fundamentally different this is. When you have a team and customers and a working business — you get pulled. You wake up with a million requests from people and can only work on the top 1-3 things for the company at a time. You’re always on and responding to the world. Momentum just exists and you have to intentionally carve out time to think. The challenge is selection. When you don’t have a team or product or customers and are trying to create something from nothing, you have to push. If you don’t create work, there is no work. No one is calling you or needing you. You have to create momentum where there is none. You could spend endless time thinking. You have to force yourself to do. The challenge is creation. Both stages are fun, but there’s something ultra special about building from nothing. Excited to be back in the trenches again. 🤩

@SLP_EDU So excited how the major tech companies are moving towards skill-based hiring to solve their talent shortages.... sure its out of necessity but its moving the right way will take a while to hit blue collar workers though

I wrote this piece after hearing from more and more people recently that they don't have the experience required to land an entry-level role. I'm looking for more solutions in this space- Overcoming the ‘Entry Level’ Catch-22 in the Age of AI reachcapital.com/2024/06/17/ove…

Contrary to product/company building I think you should start with a very biased hypothesis on a product / future of the world you want to build - After all you dont wanna build unexciting stuff But then, still validate or disprove the hypothesis with your users and let their excitement take you to a magical place of *unique market insights*. If you interview 200+ potential users you'd be crazy not to distill any problems worth solving

Focus on solving real problems. Build something you personally want and can create, that few others realize is worth doing. That fuels your passion and conviction as it’s something you deeply desire to exist. What problem do you want to solve and why is it personally important to you?

@VitalizeVC Just do as you would in 8th grade science class 🧪 Have a hypothesis and find data (do user research) to prove or disprove your hypothesis.

@jantegze Not sure if cold outreach but talked to a Recruiter this week and mentioned that they do 200 Robo AI calls a day and convert well their clients that way. Also an approach that seems so bad but yet could be so ingenious if executed correctly?

🩻 Diagnosing problems correctly is the biggest skill one can have in tech - The best PMs, Salespeople, Marketers, CFOs all have this common trait

Week #2 of Building in Public - Rising Against the Odds Diary. Hey there! 🤗 One week has passed since my decision to reveal what I am doing, commit myself, and share updates on social media. I received a suggestion from one of the members of the communities I am part of, advising me not to push myself and refrain from sharing updates if I have nothing substantial to say. Generally, I am inclined towards that approach, but somehow I believe that all of us always have something to say if the right questions are asked. Therefore, I have defined the structure for my updates and will be iterating with it in the future. Learning Gamification won't solve a user's problem. It can increase retention, but it comes after you acquire users who can benefit from your product and address their problems. P.S. For some products, gamification is a key... Concerns I just realized how much work still needs to be done before opening a round. I even considered hiring a VA to assist me with routine tasks. Now, I'm contemplating my runway and whether it's really worth it. 🙄 Appreciation @LukasMacner, thank you for the conversation we had, the ideas, and the opinions you shared. It's really heartening when external experts want to help us achieve our goals! Progress (I'll share what I want to): - We have launched our community Discord server. The target was to onboard approximately 32 community builders so we can collectively shape the future of Spilnota. - I have started preparing for the events I will be attending in September. - I have also resumed the preparation for our first funding round. - We had a lengthy discussion about switching from GitHub for task management and debated between Jira and Linear. Ultimately, we chose the latter, giving the power to my Co-Founder and CTO to make that decision. - Updated the Community Manifesto. I believe we did a great job with the developed framework. Check it out on the website:) Thank you for reading. #kienfsd
