The death penalty question is back in the air, ever since Leo XIV doubled down on the error of his predecessor. No, the death penalty is NOT "inadmissible." It is NOT "per se contrary to human dignity and the Gospel." It is admissible. It is permissible. It is sometimes warranted. It is sometimes even necessary for the preservation of the common good. All this is clear from Scripture, Tradition, and the solemn, perennial Magisterium of the Church. The *only* issue that can be debated is whether it is prudentially right in this or that situation or context. For a quick overview of why this is the only coherent position a Catholic can take, see the lecture linked here, given in 2019, and the shorter article from 2023. Of course, the literature is vast; Ed Feser's work is particularly commendable for its careful attention to both argument and authority. 🚨 Bishop Bernard Fellay of the SSPX delivered a stark warning in his April 19 homily in Kansas: “There is an enormous probability that all of you — we included of course — may be excommunicated… There is a very high probability because they already said it in public so they are forcing themselves to do it.” Yet he adds: “Whatever — God can do miracles. It’s not the end.” God wants the SSPX to remain “a sign of contradiction… the Cross.” Watch the full clip:

@HwsEleutheroi Remember when you said this around this time last year? I think you might be a prophet 😆

Sedevacantists do more to cause people to question the legitimacy of Catholicism than the legitimacy of the pope.

REMINDER: Trump saved EIGHT innocent woman from being murdered today. My question is simple: Where are all the feminists congratulating him? I’ll wait…
