You CANNOT control everything!
But these things aren't out of your control;
- your growth
- who you allow into your life
- your meal and people diet
- your peace of mind
Happy weekend fam!
Kick out anything that’s ruining your day!
Feel the sun on your skin and shine! 🎇
I got fired from my first job
I was a (sh*tty) software developer
As a 24 year old, that's a real kick in the nuts
You graduate college feeling lost, then a boomer tells you you're not worth $40k a year
Best thing to ever happen to me
Let me explain:
Being fired f**king sucks
If you've been in my shoes you know what I'm talking about
It's like getting rejected by a chick at the bar, except now you're not sure you can pay rent the next month
You feel like you have no purpose. Like the system wasn't made for you.
Especially if you recently graduated college like I did. You immediately question taking out a $160,000 loan to study something that you failed at
I got home from work and literally laid face down on the tile of my $900 a month Boston apartment for an hour
Software development wasn't it
After applying for jobs for a month, eating slices of $2 square pizza for most meals (actually was really good pizza), I finally landed my next gig
Tech consultant at an analytics company
Basically a technical sales job
Learned I wasn't half bad at communicating with people despite having a computer science degree
Company went bust around the start of Covid. Another kick where the sun don't shine.
Had to pick up some new skills:
→ Learned database development.
→ Started coding a stock scanner.
→ Which turned into a crypto scanner.
→ Which turned into me discovering NFTs.
→ Which turned into me creating content on this account.
→ Which led to me starting a business that has helped me achieve my life goal of working for myself.
One failure led to another led to another led to another.
At 29 I felt useless.
At 30 I was building the business of my dreams.
Every failure redirects you.
Gets you closer to your purpose.
0-29 I felt like I didn't belong anywhere, and all of a sudden at 30 I knew exactly where I belonged.
It can happen at any time.
I know it sounds all hokey-pokey, but I promise the universe is moving you in the right direction.
Even when it feels like it's absolutely kicking your a**, it's kicking you towards where you need to be
If you are in a spot similar to me, not sure what your purpose is, just know as long as you keep moving forward, keep putting one foot in front of the other, you'll get closer to where you need to be.
The worst thing you can do it just lay down and give up
When you're laying down on that tile floor like I was, you're not moving anywhere
Never stop moving. Keep the faith that no matter what happens, your purpose will strike at the right time.
Keep pushing.
This is a dream come true
This $1,112.76 isn’t a lot to some people, but this is a milestone achievement in my life
For years I admired creators like Dr. Disrespect and Tim Dillon who get paid to create online content
Getting to this point wasn't easy
You wouldn't believe the amount of 3am bed times and 6am wake up times I went through in 2022 to get this account off the ground
I wasn't born into money
I've been working since I was 14
So I had to work a 9-5 (more like a 7am-8pm) every day then spend the 8pm-3am writing posts on X to scrounge up a few more followers
Unreal amount of failures along the way:
• A sports account from 2017-2019 that gained 300 followers in 2 years
• A traditional finance account from 2019-2021 that did even worse
• A hack to my account in January 2023 that embarrassed me on a public stage
All while working in the tech space to pay outrageous NYC rent prices and the every so often $7 oat milk latte
2 years of sleep deprivation
2 years of not eating nearly enough (stress lives in my gut. I completely lose my appetite)
Was it worth it for a $1,112.76 pay day?
F**k yeah it was
This is only the beginning of the dream, not the end
This platform is only going to grow
The amount of opportunities to make money for your creativity will only grow
The amount of people able to make a massive bag and live off their content will only grow
If you didn't get paid or only made a few cents this month keep going
This isn't the end game, this is a proof of concept
And the proof of concept is working
The creator economy is coming, and it's going to live on X.
I don't put up this screenshot to gloat (there's plenty of accounts that made WAY more than me anyway)
It's to show you what's possible with intense sacrifice
2 tweets a day for 2 years is all it took
If you ever dreamed of making a living off your content, keep working, keep sacrificing, keep pushing
