They want you to believe your voice doesn't matter.
Yet in just the last few days:
-LAPD canceled its Flock contract.
-Meta cancelled Muse Image AI after privacy outrage.
-One of the largest planned U.S. data centers was killed (PW Digital Gateway) by local opposition.
The surveillance state isn't inevitable.
It advances when people are apathetic.
It retreats when people fight back.
Public pressure works. Keep pushing.

Sorry, used wrong X handle: the correct one is @LukeProfitsX (not LukeProfits).

Listened to the Open Markets podcast #11 (openmarkets.pub). They discussed XmrBazaar, and it's clear the idea is ripe: many people are independently arriving at the same conclusion around decentralization + Monero circular economy:
- I wrote about it about a month ago: themeritocrat.substack.com/i/202180432/de…
- @SlowBearDigger has it on the roadmap: xmrpay.shop/roadmap.html
- @LukeProfits is already working on something similar: github.com/lukeprofits/Op…
The key missing piece is multisig/non-custodial escrow. In a privacy-preserving system without KYC and/or IP logging, you absolutely can not operate without mandatory (not optional!) multisig/non-custodial escrow and/or bonds by default. Any voluntary privacy-focused market that can't rely on traditional law enforcement (unlike Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist) tends to attract a disproportionate number of scammers and worse (see this depressing thread: xmrbazaar.com/forum/topic/51/)
There are already promising approaches for better Monero multisig / escrowed markets that are worth looking at:
1. @spirobel's Serai-powered Monero multisig escrow with offline arbitrators: monerochan.news/article/19
2. The existing tool by @MoneroMultisig: freigeist-m.github.io/monero-multisi… (rbrunner (Monero dev) has spoken well of it, I haven't tried it myself yet)
3. Koe's (Monero dev) talk "Seamless Escrowed Markets with Monero Multisig" from @MoneroKon 2023: youtube.com/watch?v=S478Lu…
*This post is my attempt to gather the main ongoing efforts in this direction in one place.

@r_a_d_a_n_n_e @ricardoXMR @XMRVoid But listings last as long as people continue to host, and if even like 7 desktop clients allocate enough space to host a lot, things can stay up forever.
English

Now I see why you consider the tech choices fit for purpose. But ultimately, these reflect a notably idealistic yet market-counterintuitive and business-counterproductive strategy. It's essentially a "Snapchat marketplace."
Every listing is an asset. Markets or any creator-content service are built on reputation. Those on the 'dark' side are not excluded.
Unless you treat it as such, the impact of what you are proposing is akin to a farmer who plants crops but sets them on fire right before harvest, and burns his house in the process.
I can only conclude with a friendly recommendation to go back to the drawing board and reassess the model.

HUGE FOR $XMR
@LukeProfitsX THE GOAT JUST COOKED HARD AND MADE A SUCCESSOR TO EBAY AND A BETTER XMRbazaar

@r_a_d_a_n_n_e @ricardoXMR @XMRVoid Also, OpenMarket displays Nostr products (people who post them are p2p marketplace fans, so might as well include) but this isn't the same secure, private design that OpenMarket uses to post products (unless the user says to also mirror to nostr marketplaces.)
English

@r_a_d_a_n_n_e @ricardoXMR @XMRVoid The whole thing is designed to be ephemeral and on a local rolling buffer. Every user allocates Xgb. If that gets full, the oldest content drops out, the newest content goes in.
The CIDs that the swarm has is continually changing. Not a post and stay forever type thing
English

@r_a_d_a_n_n_e @ricardoXMR @XMRVoid if you can find one OpenMarket node on all of Nostr, you can connect to other nodes in the network without me needing to hardcode bootstrap nodes that could go down. It is also one way (of many) to propagating IPFS CIDs.
