Another year, another different 5A state champion will be crowned at Rim Rock Farm this fall.
There has been no repeat champion on the 5A boys side since @stasaints_tf_xc legend Ethan Marshall did so in 2017 and 2018.
This year, Daniel Enriquez is the top returner, and he'll look to become the next 5A state champion following a 3rd place finish in 2023.
Check out the rest of the top 5A returners this fall, as seven boys bring sub-16 PB's into the mix.

Three of the state's fastest girls reside in 5A, as juggernauts Katelyn Rupe, Ryin Miller and Kaylie Shultz all set to battle for a state title. Rupe is 6-3 all-time against Miller, and 5-0 against her on the grass, but Miller closed the gap this spring. The sophomore won both the 1600m and 800m 5A titles. During her freshman year, Shultz tallied four all-state performances over both the cross country and track seasons. Check out the rest of the top fifteen returning girls in 5A.

NXR 2023 was a hit!! LFK XC made its debut and it was our first year of having >3 kids make the trip to Sioux Falls and toe the line against the Region’s best. The kids snagged some PRs/SBs and had a blast doing it! They’re already talking about next year. #chestyculture
