Maxey might have the easiest job in town. He plays badly without Embiid in the lineup, it's because they're so shorthanded without Embiid. He plays badly with Embiid in the lineup, it's because Embiid is taking all the shots. He plays well, it's entirely him.

I probably wouldn't scratch Michkov, because I do think he has the upside to explode offensively at any time. But the idea that it's unwarranted and unfair is ridiculous. He's not playing well. He's been the least effective of all of the top-9 forwards. It's obvious.

When has Michkov been good at checking? You're getting warmer as to why he's being scratched.
Tocchet needs to shake up the lineup. It makes no sense to stick with what isn't working. Game 4 was vividly apparent.
Michkov must make a statement after Game 5. If not, it's on him.

A player needs a reset. It's pretty normal in hockey.
He doesn't need to score a point in his return. He just needs to not be invisible on the ice.
Michkov was called generational. I'll take 'good third-liner,' which we're not seeing this series.

Yup. He will return to the lineup in the same usage.
He hasn't shown in the postseason that he should be in the top six. Until he earns his keep, he's the third-line wing.
It's pretty simple stuff.

Michkov won't be benched for the entire playoffs.
If you think he will, I have magic beans to sell you for zillions of dollars.
Tocchet is making a correct, necessary decision.

Postseason hockey is a different beast from regular season hockey.
Michkov isn’t meeting the checking that defines the #NHL postseason. He’s been getting hammered around the ice.
It’s not a time for a defend Michkov take. He’s highly underwhelming this series.

Michkov is playing 'fourth-line minutes' due to penalties disrupting the game flow. Then, he's contributed the least on the third line.
No one paying attention should be shocked. The actual fourth line is contributing so much more.

@EricReeseFN He’ll earn his keep in the offseason when he earns Tocchet’s trust. No point in playing him 4th line minutes to be a checking forward starting 50% of his shifts in the d zone. We have other players more built for that
