Open question: Can anyone explain why Democrats should be in power? All I really see are exaggerated claims of how bad Trump is, vague notions of what Dems CLAIM they stand for — which their actions don’t support— or legitimate criticisms of Trump which also apply to Dems. The premise of my doubt is that, believe it or not, there are faaaaaaaar worse people than Trump. So just saying “anyone is better than Trump” isn’t a valid argument for Dems to replace him. I know he gets referred to as “Hitler” a lot, but that doesn’t just magically make Trumps vulgarity the same as industrialised murder. Again, the question is “Why should Dems be in power?” Thanks in advance.

@JelonAlexander Judge people based on their own time. Slavery was the norm for 1000s of years. Being the first major civilisations in history to abolish slavery was a big move at the time. This is like saying “all people who changed from petrol to electric cars should be hanged”.

Every last slave owner as well as members of the Confederacy should’ve been hanged when the Civil War ended. Yet here we are.

Although it looks like it’s a hangover from colonial practices, I think it’s become more of a traditional standard than a defeated mind There are restrictions on having a shaved head and strict dress codes in UK and Australian schools too

@Lukeatthatt @khanofkhans11_ The only reason that makes sense is that schools are tired of having to punish those that don't comply with the weekly hairstyles. I was surprised when I got to second school and found out girls cut their hair, it wasn't so in primary school.

@kevinblue345 This is such an uninformed perspective. The “blood, suffering and slavery” was the global norm for thousands of years. Black people caught and sold 90% of the slaves sent to America. Slavery still exists outside of western democracies. White people abolished it.

Legally Trump isn't allowed to make any structural alterations to the White House without the agreement of the Senate, Congress and the Supreme Court. He hasn't asked any of them. He just started demolishing. He is a dictator.

She wasn't perfect (nobody is), but one thing is certain: she would never have destroyed the White House, she would never have given $40 billion to a foreign country at the expense of her farmers, she would never have betrayed the U.S. Constitution.

@queenie4rmnola White peoples have done more than any other race to abolish slavery. There is still slavery in Africa today. If you really cared about justice for blacks, you’d be advocating for current slaves rather than a handout from the people whose ancestors freed your ancestors.
