When I started HS in the 2000s, my best friend growing up started dating a series of women who could only be described as hideous, and I never got over the disgust I felt toward him. (He eventually married one and became a dog dad.)
I'm not talking mids. I'm talking snaggleteeth, pot-belly that sticks out more than their chests, fucked-up eyes, absolute bottom-of-the-barrel pussy. He wasn't even much worse than average himself - he was tall, deep voice, relatively rich family, but a skinny-fat ginger.
I never really asked him what he was thinking until Junior year (it wasn't really any of my business). That NYE, some 200 lb'er with a pig snout tried to grope me at a party, and I physically took her hands off me and let her know unequivocally that I was not interested.
She was friends with said guy friend's current GF, and she started crying and made a huge scene about it. I just left and walked home half-drunk in the snow.
The next day my friend came over and confronted me about it. I'd hurt her feelings, blah blah blah. I told him I just didn't like her, it wasn't personal, I'm sorry if I hurt her, etc.
My friend pushed back. "Why? Looks don't matter when you're fucking and girls like that will let you do whatever you want."
Ugh. I could have vomited at the thought, especially whatever disgusting acts he was insinuating with that last bit.
I, rather dejectedly, replied "I'd rather be alone forever."
Bro was pissed, and immediately asked if I was "gay."

I’m not arguing either way. I’m saying that if the couple discussed this issue and married under the agreement of not having children, then it’s fair to debate whether a divorce is biblical.
My comment was directed at earlier responses implying that I was cheering on the destruction of a marriage or placing blame on one side.
I was making an observation about what I have witnessed in my life, not a judgment.
It is sad to watch a marriage end no matter the circumstances.
It is sad to watch vibrant happy women be consumed with anger over how or why their marriage ended, whether it be their decision to filed first or not.
It is sad to see men walk away from a marriage because they suddenly want to change course without much warning.
It is sad watching women later realize that they would have been happier to have children and lost their husband due to their inability to realize this fact in time to save their marriage.
It is sad to watch a couple finally decide to have kids only to learn it’s too late for them, so the husband leaves the marriage to fulfill that desire.
It’s just all around sad.

Now that I’m in my early 40s, I have seen this type of situation play out over time. There have been more than a few instances in which the couple divorced. The man married a younger woman and immediately had children. The women my age have been left alone with bitter hearts. In all but a few cases, these women have turned to political activism and animal rescue organizations to fill the void. It’s really sad to watch.
