If you have been paid by a client to do work, DO 👏 THE 👏 WORK 👏 Sure, emergencies can come up, but to have active YCHs and other art pumping out and leaving clients waiting for over 6 months to over a year makes you look like you dont want to do it.

Artists like this are the same ones who are very eager to take your money in the pre-commission process. They always reply quickly. But in the time period after the money has been sent, there's radio silence. Extremely icky. I'm starting to say fuck that and refuse to cough up any cash unless it's 50/50 (industry standard) or I'm conducting business with an artist that I have mutual trust and respect.

I hate joining some discord servers because it’s so ridiculous. Someone can’t even mention their pet in general as a passing comment without the owner getting bent out of shape and spam pinging ‘ PETS SECTION IS HERE DONT MENTION PETS IN GENERAL ‘

@bleeding_sun Right on! Also, how did you eventually find the right artists for your platform? I am hoping to step onto the creative platform myself one day but I am not sure where to start looking for professional artists besides artstartion.

I have said it before and I will say it again, most artists have no business taking commissions - and it’s not due to their skill level but due to their absolute lack of professionalism and awful attitude towards their clients, which is unfortunate. I started scouting for artists for my studio, and while I was looking into some I knew had amazing skill, I unfortunately chose to not reach out to collaborate with them, as our professional values don’t align and it would be detrimental to my business.

@seabunnypeep What a shithead. There can be times where a commissioned work is a lesser quality than the CURRENT standard for the artist, but even then, you still don't charge back the artist like a douche. You point it out DURING the work process and ask them to improve it.

respectfully, this is not how commissions work 🥲 yes my art has improved. but i never put less effort on any of my comms. i wouldve redrawn it for free, but not if you bash my art like this. it feels so backhanded ;w; they also filed a chargeback immediately after. $35 gone 🥲

@exisbread Do some artists forget that they are providing both a service and a product? If you don't have the maturity to handle criticism and even negative reviews of your product, you shouldn't be conducting business, period.

It's unfortunate that clients are being discouraged from leaving honest reviews of their experiences now for fear of being called out on social media about it. I commission a LOT of art- this is just since October 2025 and doesn't include 45 skebs. I strongly feel that one 'unfair' (which is debatable) review for an artist will be ignored by potential clients if their portfolio and other reviews stand on their own without any additional red flags. What is the biggest red flag of all though is starting a witch hunt including the client's name on twitter because you received your first ever negative review. If anything, it just gives more credibility to the negative review in the first place. Does it suck if you don't agree? Sure, but take it as feedback for how you can improve in the future so that other clients don't leave their experiences dissatisfied. If it's 100% bullshit, then focus on continuing to provide a good experience for your future clients so that their shining positive reviews drown that one out.

i don't understand why it's so hard for artists not to communicate, especially when the service is already paid for, with little to no communication or updates. please, do not take on more commissions/clients if you haven't even communicated with your previous rounds of clients.
