Good morning citizens! Of all the concepts currently NOT in production, which are you looking forward to the most? For me personally it's the MISC Odyssey of course. It's my dream ship and the crown jewel of the fleet! #StarCitizen

Been seeing a ton of salt lately about Star Citizen and where the game actually stands right now… Especially since it has hit over $1 billion in funding... What does everyone think? Is it really that bad, or are we just in another cycle? #StarCitizen

@PepeSaltMines @anniefuchsia The exact opposite is the problem. MMORPGs lost their Soul after companys like Blizzard focused on casual gamers. That's why classic is so popular

That stuff has been in games since day 1. Ultimate online. EverQuest. It’s the entire point of those games. Developers living in fear of the top 1% playerbase is what killed them. Players with literally ZERO LIVES who play 20 hours a day and then finish everything and then say “there’s no content”. Developers have been listening to these ghouls since the beginning. Instead of building games for casuals they are building them for the top 1%

@jusburrough @starjumporg true but Odin with 12 Players will destroy the Jav without problems i guess + both can't land and are only good for station / org wars i think. Javelin will be much cheapert to run i guess but i don't see another reason for it

@DaPoets Depends in which county you are. 5000$ in for example Germany is worth way more than 5000$ in the US. People don't earn that much here but cost of living is not that high either. Like always... don't spend money that hurts your daily life.

I don't understand the 4 full salaries comment... Can anyone explain this to me? Anyway, if you're financially responsible you won't even notice $5,000 here or their, so using your own funds on this should be frivolous. I got points for it too, and paid it off the same day. This got me over a points bonus so I got 175,000 points for lots of future flights & hotel stays (writing this while flying to Taiwan having used points on this trip). If $5K is a lot to your budget then NO it's insane to have bought this ship which may not be released for years (if ever). It's all relative. Now a discussion of P2W/P2skip, funding model, etc, are all valid.
Pirat_Nation 🔴@Pirat_Nation

Star Citizen players are spending $5,000 on the Anvil Odin, a 762-meter battle cruiser that hasn’t been added to the game yet. The ship is still in development, but players are already spending like 4 full salaries on a simple ship, they must be rich. Star Citizen has always had expensive ships, but spending $5k on a ship that doesn’t yet exist in-game is insane. This explains why the game’s crowdfunding campaign recently passed $1 billion, making it one of the most successful crowdfunded projects ever.

I still can't believe I spent $5,000 on this digital ship (jpeg) from Star Citizen. 🫣 At least it'll be nice to look at for the next few (5?) years before it's in-game flyable.... right guys?

@TheRubenSaurus Store Credit Version i guess? I don't know why they keep this hull limited thing for Kraken oder Idris. It's such a joke these days with Bots and Scripts. Just glad I bought mine years ago

@BadAshJL @TheRubenSaurus yes but you can't act like it had no impact that most of the employees were working on Squadron instead of the PU for many years now.

@Lusu_91 @TheRubenSaurus The biggest delays for progress on the ptu have been tech issues specific to tech needed for the MMO. If squadron didn't exist those still would have slowed development. The only thing that would have sped up PU development would have been to pause public releases

@BadAshJL @TheRubenSaurus That's true but imagine that most of the backers that pay for their Multiplayer Ships got a 1.0 Version and play the game with only a few updates from time to time while CiG is working on the Singleplayer instead of what we got.

@Lusu_91 @TheRubenSaurus A single player game is infinitely more simple to develop than an mmo and most of the work is directly transferable. The other way around not so much.

@DaPoets do you have a crew for it? I have the same problem. Im too invested to ignore the Odin but it will be hard to find a trustworthy crew for it with enough time for big operations.

@BTV_Cast there is a downside if you act like people that support you for more than a decade have to proof that they are worthy to buy a concept ship and you can't proof if CiG is fair in the selecting process (2/2)

@BTV_Cast @BTV_Cast what do you think about the Odin Founders Club? I think it maybe would have been better to sell it like every other capital concept ship. I like the idea to reward players that care about the game or active players that help development while in alpha.. but (1/2)

CIG isn’t just selling the Anvil Odin… they’re selecting who commands it. DefenseCon dates are locked, and 4.8 testing just added G-force gameplay changes + plasma grenades. The next few weeks are shaping how we play. #StarCitizen #Squadron42
